FINALLY!!!!!! So tonight I was looking at my tank and noticed that my clowns finally laid eggs. I have had the pair for over 3 years and this is the first time I have noticed any eggs. They laid the eggs under a piece of old dead open brain coral that up at the top of the tank where the GBTA is. They have been liking that spot recently since the GBTA made its home there.

The question I have is regarding flow on the eggs. My MP40 is on the right side of the tank and the eggs ae on the left side of the tank. I can see the eggs moving in the current and am worried about them. Should I be or will they be ok in the current? I want the eggs to hatch and possible raise them if possible.

Can anyone that has had clowns lay eggs before help me with them? I have a 10 gallon tank that I will set up when the hatch. I have a hang on back filter for it. Will this be ok? Also what do the newly hatched babies eat?

I've been wanting to breed clowns forever. Once my maroons finally got close to breeding the male died so it took me forever to mate the female with another male. Now i wait again. I read this chicka book and have done a lot of reasearch on it. The first couple broods probably wont survive. Place a tile near them for them to lay the eggs on and remove it fdom the tank at about seven or eight days to the breeder tank. Good luck.

You will need to be prepared to remove the fry when they hatch to a different tank as they will get eaten. They need to be fed the right size food multiple times a day. You might PM BSJF as she has been successful raising them. It is not easy!

Thanks mike I just sent her a message. I've seen her set ups before and really liked them.

Does anyone know where I can get live rotifers locally to start my own culture? I also need to start a phyto culture. I'm really serious about giving this a try.

A few people had rotifers but probably not anymore. Your best bet is to call one our sponsor LFS to see when they are ordering from Reef Nutrition. You'll end up paying for just the rotifers and not the shipping :)
This way you'll have a nice & healthy start to your culture.
Raising clownfish fry is not much different than having a newborn. You’ll be stressed out, all your free time will be gone, and your tank expenses will go up. But it’s worth it when you see their smiling faces.

Not a problem. Glad I could be of some help. That goldenpearl food she was talking about in the video works as a supplement http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/other-goldpearl-particle-c149.html . They have it in every size you would need for their development. But all natural would probably yield a better brood. Let me know how it goes. I look forward to the update. Good luck.

Im sad to say that there are no more eggs. I talked with BSJF from here on maast and it seems that the eggs might have been bad or the clowns were not experinced so they ate them. Im still hopeful that they will lay more eggs. I cant wait to give this another try. Thanks for all of the help.
