I put my clowns into a QT yesterday because they had what looked like Ich and I have been concerned about Brook since I had one die a while back from that. anyway i'm still in the process of bringing SG down to 1.09 (its at 1.015 right now). yesterday and all night they were fine but are not eating.. now the male is staying towards the top of the tank. I have good water flow and and airline in there.. I have Amequel sp? I'm concerned about them not eating and the male sticking his nose up to the surface.. I cant just dump them back in the tank because raising SG that fast might kill them.... any Ideas.. these are beautiful expensive clowns.. dont want to lose them!

If it is Brook, hyposalinity isn't the best treatment.
Is the QT tank cycling?

I don't really think it is Brook... but i can't be sure.. sick fish are new to me.. never really had trouble with Ich or any fish disease before. the QT is not Cycling,, I mught just be over reacting... these are beautiful fish and my wife is very attached to them. they are "HER" fish...if these guys die she might just kick me out of the house!!

I have some Rid-Ich... should I treat as a dip or treat the whole QT tank (10 gal)

i think you would dose the tank and i think it is more than once to maintain the concentration of medicine for a while. the instructions on the bottle should give the amount and frequency.

Yeah, Ace thats pretty much what I did... the directions were a little vague... they mentioned a water change BEFORE the addition but not after.. Im assuming it dissipates over time..I will keep dosing the tank for the next few days while doing a water change before each dose... they seem to be doing fine

Clowns have been in QT for 5 days.. I have been medicating each day and doing a water change.. I have been worried because they have not been eating and have been very lethargic, only swimming around when they have to..salinity has been at 1.010 for about a week but yesterday I started the slow climb back to normal. this morning they are swimming together, look great.. very alert and even picking at food that I put in. I will medicate today and tomorrow while bringing salinity back to normal.. on monday i will do a couple of water changes with tank water then they will go back in display
