There are two peppermint shrimp looking at me. :)
I decided to keep my pair of clowns. Our love-hate relationship has endured for almost a decade it seems -why break up now... ;)
So I put my old 29g back up. It's lovely when you have absolutely everything already in the garage -not a single thing to buy. lol
The only thing I needed was a stand and I picked one up from the super amazing tebstan today.
I'm so happy. It's got sand and rocks and macro in it and that will be it. No worrying about lighting or flow. Just macro and fish. :)

Those are the best kind of builds. Little or no money involved. Of course, that means you have too many fish related items in your garage.

It's nice to hear that you will be keeping a tank going for the clowns , we all know how you love macro so I'm sure the tank will be a really nice looking setup when your done. Haven't you said in the past that the clowns were in your first saltwater tank?

yup -came from a 29g, moved to the doomed 125, then to the 215 and now back in the 29g for retirement. Sorry clowns! lol

That sounds like most old couples. You start off with a little starter home, move to bigger house, buy an even bigger house, then end up in a small one room assisted living home.

By the way I spoke with Kara this week about a Rock Beauty Angelfish and she told me Ken may get in some 1 1/2" jaw fish. Would not hurt to have one of those in your 29?

No way to get that deep enough. The jawfish tank was fun. Doing it half-*** on too small scale wouldn't be fun at all.
This will be a super simple retirement home for the remaining fish (although I am still hoping somebody will get the group of PJ Cardinals! They are pretty big. 5 of them in a 29 along with the ever breeding clowns is going to be tight...)
Here's the tank by the way. Not even a sump...

Looks nice you just need to add four mores inches of substrate? I did not see that you still had the cardinals, I would think the 29 would be full.

Yes I am moving the little masked gobies into the tank along with the clowns. But no room for 5 large cardinals. ugh.
Thanks!

Oh I would get clownfish fry all the time. There's just not much to do with them once you get them. lol I don't need 100 more clownfish :D

You'll have more than you'll be able to house. And unless you got the current designer clown for sale, the amount you spent raising them won't be able to be recouped by selling them. If you manage to sell them at all. So then you'll be stuck with tons of clowns and no place to go. Like the crazy cat lady living in a trailer on the outskirts of town -only you'll be the crazy clownfish person with tons of 20 gallon tanks all over the house. ;)

the problem with rehoming clowns is that it's hard to keep more than one pair in a tank without fighting. So once people have a pair (and they live FOREVER!) they usually are unable to adopt another pair. Think about it carefully. :)

7 clowns? For how long? They are not schooling fish in the wild.
