Hey guys!:shades:

I have something in the works. A nano of sorts.
This will be a unique setup of 13-14g sphere in shape. I want this to be as maintenance free as possible and will be somewhat of display as a whole. Not just about the aquarium but equally about the aesthetics of the entire setup.

It will include the sphere tank/bowl, custom stand, vintage/industrial looking lighting with Led bulbs. Filtration will be simple; most likely a canister of sorts. Inhabitants 2-3 fish at the most (maybe a pair of unique clowns) and super easy corals.

Keep a eye out, this will not be done super fast but I do already have my 14g fish bowl.

Bowls Measurement. 59" round, 20" wide at the center and 16" tall. Holds 13.5g safely without overflowing.

From my experience my smaller aquariums have always been less maintenance for me. I have had 3 or 4 bio cube and a couple of other (nanos). The occasional water change and a cleaning of the glass. To me that is low maintenance.

great to see new nanos. best tank I ever had was a 2.5 gallon practically maintenance free, nothing but some macro, one fish, and about $300 worth of awesome zoas and acans. I cried the day I discovered it shattered and already dried when I came back from a weekend at the coast. The shelf I had it on fell off the wall and there was no saving anything.

A cool goby/pistol shrimp pair would be sharp in a setup like that. Thoughts on how to keep glass clean? Can you use a small mag float on a round surface like that.

Mike i was wondering about the mag float, maybe the smallest one they have might work. Might be doing it with my hand in the tank or come up with a unique solution.

This might work for me

This is awesome! I had a similar idea to do this after seeing this http://reefbuilders.com/2010/03/29/reef-bowls-think-outside-the-glass-box-115-gallon-reef-bowls/

CRAZY! Just do a google images search for 155 gallon reef bowl

oh yeah I remember that huge reef bowl. They used a retro acrylic chair. Pretty cool although i am not a fan of acrylic. Way to easy to scratch. I searched for the largest glass bowl I could find and 14g was it. I was not even planning this project until a couple of weeks ago when I was walking through a stores glass vase section and a light bulb went off. Stay tuned for more pics as I buy and build the stand, light fixture etc..

for a glass cleaner, you could heat 2 pieces of acrylic with a heat gun, then form one to the inside and one to the outside of the bowl, cover one side of each with velcro (for a glass scrubber). Now, superglue 2 plastic or epoxy coated magnets to the other side of each piece (note the polarity of the magnets) and you are all set.

Go go gadget jack. Good idea jack.

there is a product designed to clean glass smoking utensils/vases that works well, but it is very labor intensive as the inside pad is about 1/2 inch around. here's a link http://theoriginalbuddy.com/usez/
