Can anyone recommend a small fish for my 20L frag tank? I will have one big piece of live rock in there with smaller pieces laid around, as much egg crate as I can fit and it will be bottomless....

Dont really care if it's the ugliest fish out there, just looking for a work horse to help with any algae that may pop up....

Might have a six line in there to help with any pests but unsure of that yet..

Well... if the tank is truly bottomless... ;)

I've had luck with a yellow tang or a yellow eyed kole. The latter seems kind of skittish compared to the yellow so I'm thinking that one rock may not give it enough space to hide.

6 line will be great for pests but only if it's the only fish..small tank and 6 lines are mean little dudes

man, didn't catch the 20 gallon piece either... would a starry blenny get along with a six in there?

I agree with Rob on a 6line in that small of a tank. In my experience they will try to rule the tank when given the opportunity.

That's exactly what I was hoping for.... A Blenny of some sort and the six line....

I have a mean 6 line with a starry blenny in the 220g...they don't pay the other any mind but the tank is huge and the starry blenny is huge.

I would think the tank size wouldn't be a concern on these two though, since they shouldn't compete for anything. But who knows with 6 liners.

But if I had to pick one... That is a hard decision...

I have mentioned a couple of times in other threads that I had a pink streaked wrasse and a tail spot blenny in my old Finnex. They got a long and both appeared to be working.

a rabbit fish would be good they sometimes eat the nasty types of alg.

Rabbits seem so timid though, if you don't have enough room for it to hide it will always be stressed out.

A little school of clowns would be cool but it might be too small

Whatever you end up getting I would get the wrasse after the other fish. This might help him understand that it's not just his tank.

+1 on six line and I would even consider fox face bc I use to hve one in my frag tank if u can find a real small juvenile and as young they always behave and dnt bother ur corals... They excellent in grazing algae aswell

Cool thanks for the info everyone....

Got my tank set up today and I am super stoked... Came out just as I planned and wanted.... All I have left to do is build the frag racks. Which shouldn't take long...

I filled my tank with about 28 gallons of water from my DT and a little LR in my sump and a huge piece from my sons nano... All of which has been curing in the garage for a few weeks...

How about an ORA yellow assessor? Surprisingly the ORA assessor is cheaper than a wild caught one.

I'd go with the six line too. I do like the Kole and Foxface ideas too. Only other problem with rabbits is that they are poisonous - if you have your hands in there all the time.

I, well my son would really love a kole tang.... But it would be to tight of a fit for him.... If I could get a tiny one and transfer it the display tank once it's too big.... But I have never seen them that small...

If you don't mind paying for shipping then PIA usually has some small kole tangs.

Also, you might be able to order one from Elegant or Phenomenal to save on shipping. If they come in too big I'm sure they wouldn't mind ordering another one since they aren't overly expensive fish and tend to sell fairly quickly.

I posted in your nano thread. I really like mine. He made the move from the Finnex to my 120.
