.... it when you go to buy something and the salesperson/owner tells you that product is not available..... When you know it is.... When you know they can get it but would rather clear inventory than to place a order for you, that I could have easily placed online but would rather help local business's. When they are lying through there teeth and you know it.... Then to top it off offer you another product that seems like a good deal, but come to find out its a discontinued item and is going for half online for what was offered to me......

Just saying this might have worked years back but thanks to smart phones, the Internet and helpful websites we can find the truth for ourselves.... I, out of bad habit, almost bought on instinct but with better judgement said I would rest on it.....

Well come to find out(which I already knew) the product is available and should be here tomorrow from another local vendor, who could have easily tried to discourage me from buying what wasn't in his store and pointed me to what he had..... Which are very tempting products btw.... Lol

Either way excuse the rant..... Just laughing about it to myself....

I won't name stores or names but this wasn't cool that this person thinks I am foolish enough to not know what I know..... Sure this might have worked when I first got into this hobby but not now.....

Funny he said the rep for the company of the product said that they don't make them....... Lol when they are in the brochures and every website has them in stock, ready to ship.... Someone might want to tell his rep that another nearby business got me what I wanted, not what he tried to clear from his stock...

I have never had a problem with this store or person..... I was just blown away by this.

Yeah, "Shopsavy" is great. Shows you both local and online prices for product by just scanning the barcode. I use it all the time. Best Buy hates it when I do that.

Smartphones are awesome. Its nice when you can look up products, or livestock, on the spot to compare prices and availability. What I always try to tell people running businesses, the key is to just do good business. The example cited above, is not good business.

Yes cell phones are awesome nowadays, helped me alot in the beginning when at stores and looking at livestock.


I am over this incident, I don't blame someone for trying to clear invetory but the lie is what bugged me.... Business is business afterall..... The other sales ppl are good there and it sucks for them that this one person is knocking it for the rest of them.... The others have always been honest and very helpful, especially when I started this hobby......

I have had that same thing with me 3 times at this one particular store. The first time I fell for it and bought the product only to find out it's dangerous for reef tanks when the owner told me it was safe. Luckily I did not use it... After that, I know to only buy exactly what I want. If it's not at the store I go to then I'll try another or go online. One example is when I went to this particular store and asked for kent tech m and I told them it was for bryopsis. They told me they didn't have any but any mag product should work... I don't have any issues with any of the stores either and I DO LIKE this particular place. Not naming names though :)

what I don't get is why we speak in code and don't just say who it is....sponsor or not sponsor you shouldn't treat customers like that. if no one names them by tomorrow I will, tired of hearing people go to this store and leave unhappy or end up mad cause they got over sold on stuff they didn't need.

All I have to say about the place I went to is it has never been the same since when it first opened. Personally the owner is a great guy. There are some things I would change though.
