BOD Meeting – January 15, 2012
Called to order at 2:19pm by Kristy Dean, 2nd by Justin McKay.
Attendance: Kristy Dean (Kristy), Alton Vrana(Alton), Cory Pryor(CoryDude), Karin Baker(Europhyllia),
John Roescher(jroescher), Jarrod Pape (cowboy572), Justin McKay (Justahobby), Marcus (tiger_eyed1)

I. Secretary Appointment: Jarrod Pape
Duties: attend meetings, keep notes, co-sign any documents / contracts, submit
meetings online (first to BOD for review, then for general membership)

II. BOD and door prizes, raffles
Board members agreed to abstain from door prize winnings at monthly meetings
but to participate in raffle drawings.
III. BOD / Sponsor Relations
1. BOD / Sponsor affiliation: Tabled for online discussion
2. Posting in / out of their forums: Tabled for online discussion of fine-tuning this rule.
3. Improve relationships: Implement sponsor spotlight and sticky with featured information at top of each sponsor’s forum.
IV. 2012 Calendar
To include: Austin / Corpus Christi locations, Frag Swap, Tank Tour, Speakers, DIY hands-on workshops
Ideas generated: Speaker possibilities – Murray Camp, Clams (James Fatheree or Barry with Clams Direct), Breeding, Big Aquarium guy
DIY hands-on workshops: acrylic (brine shrimp hatchery, mysis shrimp catcher)
Alton: Electricity and Your Reef
Biodiversity / sand swap
Responsible Reefkeeping / livestock selection, appropriateness, health, etc. – Cory will ask one of the LFS contacts in Austin (Gary or Bruce, etc.)
Reef Pests: with demonstration of dipping, treatment
Aquascaping Techniques and Tips – dry rock DIY, demo with plastic rods
Marcus – Dive certification with follow up trip!
January – Feed Your Reef
February –
March –
April – Zoo / TOTQ social
May –
June –
July – Port Aransas Collection weekend
August –
September – MACNA Dallas / Fort Worth

Implement for 2012 with deadline (6 months), pay for frag, money goes for prize.
VII. Goals for 2012
1. Meetings: shared BOD responsibility, encourage attendance, more social
2. Marketing: membership drives, business cards, signs or posters at LFS, publicity for events (write up in SA Living or online magazine)
3. Education: how are we promoting responsible reefkeeping?
4. Sponsorship: cross promotions, any quality control?
