bought this and used it this morning.
I am tempted to do some more now since it was very satisfying to smother them all in goop.
The idea behind this product is that it is a sticky gel so it traps all of the planula.
I've tried stuff like kalkwasser and Apitasia-X before but found it just seemed to spurt a growth of new stuff in response. The gel makes sense to me. But I have no long-term experience with it. So I will goop some more and report back in a couple of weeks.
It's fun to use though! Gooping over seems more easily done than inject in the right spot...

I got it off Ebay. But caution: I only used it today. I am not recommending it ...yet.
The real test will be if two weeks from now there are
a) lots of new babies
or
b) all of the ones I gooped today recovered

Get a laser! If I ever encounter this beast I will definitely be blasting them.

how would the laser contain the planula? THAT is my main concern. Lots of things work in killing the one you attack. It's the preventing the new ones that are released during the attack.
Also when you say laser, do you mean tazer? Like the electric aiptasia zappers?

I don't know anything about planula. I just know people use high powered (and dangerous) lasers to fry them. No clue if they release planula during treatment or not, that could be a concern.
Here is the type of laser: http://lazerer.com/Blue_Laser_Pointer/LAZERER_LZCB445-1000_445nm_1W_Focusable_Blue_Laser_Pointer_Water_P roof

Wow that takes forever. It would take me days with that. lol
Planula is what it's all about. If it has time to release planula (baby aiptasia particles) you are screwed. Because two weeks later you will have a big bunch popping up. Instead of the one you killed you'll have 100. That sort of thing.

I wonder how the people that have used the lasers are doing as far as re-growth goes. This wouldn't be practical for large infestations, but if you had one or two and it prevents planula from being released, I could see it being effective.

so far so good!
only thing I noticed is that I have a little flare up of cyano -nothing major and it usually passes quickly. But I wonder if the flare up is related to the treatment?

Yup now they actually hve lazers a strong beam of light that burns aiptasias cost like over 400$$ and too risky for ur live stock.... If ur fishes spot that beam they go blind .....
I tried kalk paste yesterday on about 15 aiptasias and I hve nuked every one of it ....

Do you just smother them in goop and leave them there? I'm really curious how this will turn out.

yes smother them in goop and they will deflate. the good thing about the goop (at least in theory) is that it catches all of the planula that usually would be released.
I don't think I smothered it as much as I should have but overall it seems to work okay so far.
