Microbubbles driving me crazy!

I am not new to saltwater however i am new to this problem. I have micro bubbles attaching themselves to my rock work and to my corals, i am not sure where they are coming from. I have a 20 gallon long tank with a HOB filter, I was running a team rio nano skimmer, but I have taken this off, because I thought it might be causing them. over the last 4 hours without the skimmer, it seems that more bubbles are sticking to different objects. i tested my water and everything looks great? why do i have these and how do I get rid of them?

Good question. Is there any algae in the tank? This could be causing the off gassing. How about the rocks? Do you normally use a turkey baster to blow off the rocks? I would try this next time you do a water change and see if it helps.

Some plumbing leaks will suck air instead of leak water.

Are you seeing the bubbles in the water column or just noticing them on the rocks? I was thinking they were just developing on the rock, but John R is correct that a leak in the plumbing could cause it as well.

I'm making a few assumptions here, but since the airbubbles are sticking to everything, I'm thinking that you have some kind of algae problem like John 1 mentioned above. Water column borne airbubbles would have been one of your complaints on top of the bubbles sticking to stuff. Unless it happens while you're not present and leaves the bubbles attached to the rock and walls like john 2 suggests.

I've had both, and the airbubbles from the algae can be irritating. I still get them, and when I do a water change I typically siphon these off along with the cyano.

They're not shiny green bubbles are they? That's a whole different problem.
