Agreed I have mixed results also. I'm sure a lot has to do with how often you feed it and how much or kind of light you give it. A friend of mine's BTA split while it was small still but my aunt's BTA didnt split until a few years later when it was about 8 inches across. The growth rate varies in my experience.

In my experience, they tend to grow and split more the more food they get. As the others have already said though, the growth rate does vary, even from the same nem and their clones.

Although not enough time has elapsed... Mine split three times las year, and three times this year.

Conversely, we have a green bta that has not split in the two years we've had it.

You are lucky, if mine were in a container they would have been cut up a couple times already. :)

It depends on the anemone. My Flamethrower took a year to split. My rose hasn't split in two years. My green hasn't split but I have only had it about a year or so.

Maybe its me but when I had my old tank and a RBTA its growth seemed to have sped up when it hosted my clowns. Has anyone else observied this?

wouldn't you grow faster too if someone was pooping on you all the time?

That's TMI, Allan.

Mine split 2-3 times a year. I NEVER feed them. Usually they split after a big water change.

I've been collecting BTA's for years and growth rates vary on every single one. I have two BTA's in my tank that I put in my tank about 5 months ago on the very same date. One is a rainbow and the other is a pink lemonade. When I first introduced them into my tank they were about 3-4" in diameter. The rainbow BTA has split on me twice giving me another 3" clone and 1" clone that didn't make it. The pink lemonade is still the same size about 3". I target feed my nem's once a week with frozen shrimp.

Jeez, Kevin.... your flamethrower BTA split? And you didn't invite me to the party or pass out cigars or anything?

Our little bstreep clone RBTA split around May (as the direct result of a stressful run-in with the syphon tube on water change day.) The runt has been on the move for the past few months and this morning responded to a slight change in rockwork by letting go and doing the balloon drift routine that is so alarming. I scooped it up and stuck it where I wanted it and so far it seems to have agreed with the suggestion, happily attaching itself!

Lucky, if you want to gently remove that nem from the container, you know it would be easy right? I'm guessing that you like the security of the boundaries it creates?

Yea I rather hve it stay and grow in container ... It kinda brings a different look to my tank.. But today I notice it's on move ... It's moving in the container ... Kinda scares me!!!

It sure looks like there is another one on top of that too, with its tentacle hanging down.

I broke my small 20 gln Tank that was my room and transferred my sunburst from there in this tank...they both settled close to each other .....
