I've been using a dremel tool with a diamond wheel and a tile saw for fragging LPS but it's just not giving me the accuracy and efficiency that I'd like and it cannot handle thicker pieces such as favia brains.

So, we just purchased a diamond band saw for fragging corals. Seems to be a little bit of an upgrade from the Inland DFS-100 ReefKeeper version.

I'll update this thread once I get it in action.

That saw is awesome. I picked one up a few weeks ago. Cuts through rock/coral like butter. It's a great buy!

I saw an article recently on ReefBuilders about the Gryphon, sounds like an excellent saw! I was thinking about picking one up for some tile duty and then later on some coral fragging duty. Let me know what you think!

Can't wait to get it in...glad to see some posts with positive feedback here locally.

One speed bump is that the diamond blade that comes with the saw is not stainless steel so we are waiting for the manufacturer to open up on Tuesday to point us in the right direction for the correct blade for saltwater use.

So...apparently the stock blade that comes with this saw is a diamond coated blade that is copper and it's documented that reefers are fragging with it and the manufacturer said I would be fine with that blade...so guess we'll see.

it came in last week and while I have not had a chance to frag with it yet, I did get to set it up and adjust it....ran it for a bit and the quality is superb.

finally busted this bad boy out and did some fragging. Took about two hours total to set it up, frag and clean up. I made 70 frags to include slicing up a huge pink chalice, zoa rocks, rhodactis rocks and many ORA Tri-Color Valida frags from a large thick colony.

I set it up in a way that would allow me to frag indoors without making a mess... it worked out perfect:

Wish I would have taken more actual action pics but with all the slime I quickly forgot about the camera. I did change the water and cleaned the blade when I cut through the actual corals to prevent toxins coming in contact with the various corals. When cutting through rock I just kept jamming out.

I can't believe I didn't pick one of these up a long time ago.
