I have a chalice coral that was stung by a brain coral. About 2/3 of the chalice is bleached and dead but there is some remaining tissue but no visible eyes. Question will this chalice grow a new eye? Or is it toast.

I'm not sure about chalices in particular, but my experience has been that LPS can bounce back from almost nothing once the problematic factor is removed. So don't throw out the chalice, light a candle and keep the faith, brother!

I've always found the LPS is highly susceptible to the stinging of another coral, always ready to die. But they bounce back so quickly after what I've always thought was the point of no return.

it should come back fine and grow new eyes on its own

Try to dip it in Revive or something similar, then cut away the skeleton from the dead part. It will grow another eye.

yep...I get chalices stung all the time by acans, rics, pretty much anything that touches them aside from zoas...just keep it away from other corals and it will be fine. Amazing how well they bounce back when being stung. But a bleaching chalice due to other issues I always have trouble with....such as too much light.
