Well, I made a mistake the other day and bought a Long Spined for my Banggais. They absolutely loved it, but my softies did not. My tank is simply too small for the urchin. I feel bad because he's pretty cool and my Banggais enjoyed him. He is a montrous algae eater, after only a few days he mowed down quite a bit. I would like to trade or sell him with anyone who has a large tank and no soft corals. His spines are not particularly sharp, I gave him a haircut the day that I got him. There is a roughness along the length of his spine that feels and acts like sandpaper, and that is why he bothers my softies when he brushes against them. So to reiterate, you don't want this guy if you have soft corals; bear in mind that he needs enough room to move along the tank and rock without getting caught by his spines. I am open to any and all offers, fish, coral, rock, equipment, whatever. I just don't want him to have to live in my sump. Thank you :) - John'yarPs He is roughly 6-8 inches across right now, but his spines will grow.

Bump.

He needs a good home! He's an adult and very healthy. I just don't want his whole life to be in my sump. Anyone who has Banggais, especially if you plan to breed them, this urchin would be very helpful.

Is he 6 - 8 inches across including the spines? I used to own one and I loved it! I even got stuck by the spines many times. Comparable to a bee sting. The spines are designed so that when they go in they wont come out. Like a spear or arrow. Thats why it feels rough along the side of the spines. if you run your finger down towards the body it will feel smooth and in the opposite direction it will feel rough. Depending on its size I would want to take it. LMK Thanks!

I have a pencil urchin and hes seems to be ok. I am taking down my 100 and moving everything to the 210. I can put him in the 210.

What did you want to trade?

Yes, he is 6-8 across with spines but he was much larger before his haircut. You'll have to trim him down every once in awhile, and maybe mine is different but his spines are abrasive if you rub towards his body, not away. And BBQ I am open to any trade. Frags, Livestock (So long as it won't kill anything in my moderately peaceful tank), equipment...... Throw me an offer. Thanks.

disregard pm brody. I have a reef tank. Although my pencil urchin has been doing great so far, a foot long urchin may be to big for a 210 reef. send pics of the haircut

James is tankless?? Now thats depressing. you must be working too much.Scream911

Part of the fun is the ride. Not your destination. Youll get another and the fun will begin again. Enjoy the journey.

My sump doesn't make for great pictures but here you go.

I'm glad you didn't have any bad experiences with them James. However, he just about ripped off one of the "flowers" on my flower pot. The flowerpot may not make it anyways though, because of my wonderful clowns that think it is an anemone...
