Ideas of new tanks

So Im thinking of adding a 12x12x12 tank and a 36x12x12 tank on either side of my main tank in a bookshelf to help enclose my main tank.

I am thinking of using one for pipefish and seahorses which will probably be the smaller of the two and maybe a predator(maybe puffer/lionfish or eel) tank to the other side?

Im really just kind of feeling out for other ideas for the occupants of the tanks as nothing is in stone and this will be after march before it takes place anyway. The only givens are it will be directly linked to my sump so the sg, temp and ph and all that good stuff will be that of a reef tank.

are you sure you got the dimensions right?
12 by 12 by 12 would be tiny - like 7 gallons...
Sufficient only for dwarf seahorses and then you are stuck with providing live foods for the rest of their lives

Don't know much about predators but can't think of any kind of predator thing for a 22 gallon tank...

Yeah I forgot we are talking about Kevin and his awesome fishroom and monster tank.
If you get a 12' by 12' seahorse tank (hey that's the size of my horse stalls!) can we pay you to get to dive in it amongst the seahorses? That would be totally cool!

Lol those were just some quick dimensions, I didnt even put them In the calculator yet. Nothing's for sure yet I could probably squeeze at least 18" front to back and can be up to 25" tall. It would be fed from my fuge so a lot of pods would be fed to the tank.

Seahorse question- Can they be trained onto frozen pretty easy?

Edit- It could actually be taller as well but my reef is 25" high so it would match. Although as long as the two outer tanks are taller I don't think it would look bad. Ill try to draw it up in paint.

I like the "fish highways" but I was told it looked tacky so I don't think I could get that to fly. I guess cleaning it would be a pain as well. I had pictured a living room with that as the trim on the top of the ceiling. If that makes sense.

Here's a quick sketchup of what I was thinking of to give you an idea. The main tank is there already and is 8' long x 25" high so the other tanks could be taller and look ok. I also left that space to show the new sections.

you should buy captive bred and then they'll eat frozen mysis (as long as you don't get dwarf seahorses)
Hooking them onto the main system is not advisable since the temperature recommendations for seahorse tanks are so much lower than reef tnaks (brrr- I hate trimming the macro in my seahorse tank lol) Also seahorses can easily get bacterial infections etc. from fish so separate water supply would be preferable

Hmm so I guess seahorses are a no go. What about pipefish? I do run my reef sort of hot 79-80 in the summer.

Maybe pipefish/mandarin in the smaller and predators in the larger?

I'm not sure where you'd get captive bred pipefish. Maybe check out seahorse.org for more info on those
