Ok, hopefully someone on here can offer some advice. I have flat out fallen in love with the Yellow Banded Pipes, and have done a bit of research on them. What I can't seem to find out is.......are they capable of living in my reef tank? I have good flow in that tank, but not massive. Lots of live rock, tons of pods, a very healthy fuge. Can they tolerate flow, or are they like horsies? I do understand that they have specialized feeding requirements, which I am prepared to meet. The tank in question has no aggressive inhabitants, so they wouldn't be picked on, and lots of rock ledges and overhangs, which I understand they like.

I would love to hear what everyone has to offer in the way of advice :)

not sure about that species, but scubasteve used to have dragon faced pipes in his reef with tons of flow and fish and they did fine. they hugged the rock and crawled around. if the yellow bands are more of a free swimming pipe, they may not do as well.

dragon face by far are the easiet to keep, even better in pairs hopefully male and female.

yellow band are easy as long as they eat, if you tank is full of pods it will make it easier to switch over, eating is the key with all pipes, and to an extent pairing them.

good luck horses and pipes were always my favorite.

why don't you have a looksy at seahorse.org. I find it really helpful and they have a library too. I've decided to stay away from pipes because I know I can commit to live foods short terms but after a few months I always start slacking off...

I did a little more reading and talked to several folks who have them. It looks like I will be adding a pair of either blue lined or yellow banded pipes in the next few weeks.

I am so excited, I can't stand it!
