so i now have my sump 90 percent finished and am starting to plan out plumbing. i thought about using some threading fititngs in case i add other things to the system and had to change the routes. but the cost are a little higher and some of the parts i dont see at home depot but only on BRS. is there somewhere besides homedepot that sells more plumbing fittings that are threaded locally. i was also just thinking of adding some nipples and flex hosing where i can.
which route should i take. does it matter. or is it just a cost vs convenience. any suggestions will help.

Home Depot does have the hose fittings for PVC, just in a different isle. We just did it on the 140g and mixed hard and soft (hose) plumbing for flexibility.

I always thought Lowes had a better selection of fittings? If you where in UC I would say Sippels True Value may be a another choice?

i'm almost done, have kids birthday and other things going on to where i could only do bits at a time. my question is on the drain sides of my plumbing do i need a ball valve to control the drain flow or do i just allow to drain full open. thanks.

My personal opinion is that you want to put true union valves or true union ball valves some where on the drain system. It makes it easier if you have to remove pieces for cleaning or moving.

i have true union ball valves on the return and on the pump. i'm just curious if i need some sort of ball valve on the drain side not the return..

I do not normally put ball valves on my drains. However, I did put them on my 120 to help me control how much water heads to the fuge.
I kept hearing about the Bean Animal drain so I did some research on it and it uses ball valves as well.
