I was wondering what an adequate tooth count for cutting acrylic is. I know that it needs to be carbide. Will 80+ teeth be too much heat build up? Will 60 work? Thanks acrylic gurus.

not an acrylic guru but I bought a blade specifically for plastic at Lowes and it was less than 20 bucks. It's 180T.

I think you want to make sure you get one that the teeth don't stick out past the width of the blade. For example, I believe carbide tipped blades have a wider tip and would not be ideal for acrylic.

It's called the set of the tooth. A wood cutting blade will have the first tooth straight the second tooth angled to the left, the third tooth angled to the right. This give a cleaner cut. The plastic blade to my understanding has no set or pitch to the teeth on the blade 'cause this will cause shattering in acrylic and plastic.

x2 I use the 96 tooth for my 12 miter saw. What is nice is the blade is so thin that there is less drag on your saw. This one is $64

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess thats why it's called a triple chip blade. I bought an 80 tooth carbide blade from harbor frieght. it was $27. I'll keep yall posted on the results.
