I just got some cute little mini-carpet nems from Chris (big_pun). Since a couple jumped off of their rock in transit, I put them in my nursery area (low flow) so they could attach again. I put in another rock, and set the two loose ones on it. And the fun began......

First, I had two on one rock, then two on the other. Then, I had two on one rock, one on the other rock, and the fourth just picked up its skirts and took off across the substrate. So, I added another rock and set the runaway on it (can you see where this is going??!!). So, now I have four nems, and three rocks. And the game of musical rocks has really taken off. All four moved to the new rock, nope, didn't like that. So two stay on:rofl: there, and the other two moved to the other rocks. I swear, it's like a shell game, only with nems.

These things can boogie when they want to, wonder where they will be next?

It's hilarious

Haha, that's hilarious. Compared to large carpets, they are very low light anemones. Maybe try a shaded area with low flow.

Justin, they are in my low light nursery area.............this is a small acrylic holding tank that I built on top of one corner of my sump. It's lit with a small T5 fuge light, and is low flow. I originally built it for shrooms to have some place to attach, or for injured corals to have a low light/low flow area to heal without being blasted by my mh's and heavy water flow in the main tanks. Fed by a small Aquaclear powerhead, drains by gravity, and the drain is built so that NOTHING can go into/down it, so no corals in the return pumps. To me, it has been invaluable in allowing me to care for my coral friends.

The rock hopping seems to have stopped now. Honestly, I just think they all had to try each rock to make sure that one didn't fit better than the other, LOL. My mini maxis have done this before as well, but they don't move nearly as fast as these little mini carpets do. I never would have believed that a nem could *run* until now. I  them.

Tell me about it Chris.

At least my phone hasn't mentioned you know what to anyone here lately. Some days, I swear it's out to get me.

Bill fell right out when I told him about that little screw up.

Just curious, do you have any pictures of this "low light nursery" ? How large of an area is it? Sounds like a really good idea!

Squiers, my lights are off for the night, but I will get you some tomorrow.

It's basically a 8 x 14 (inches) acrylic tank, 10 inches tall. It sits on top of the back corner of my sump (glued on). Pump is an aquaclear powerhead, it drains by gravity back into the skimmer section of my sump. Light with a small T5 fuge light. I have used it many times for dealing with rogue shrooms that wouldn't attach, or injured corals that needed a quiet place to heal without getting beaten up by the flow in my main frag tank. The substrate is crushed coral, so that if shrooms stuck to it, I just glue them (and the substrate) right to a frag plug.
