Heater question

Now that is getting cold outside my tank temperature is dropping to 69 during the night, So I have been checking on heaters but I have read many reviews that they are not powerful enough to heat the recommended water volume.

My tank is 25G so I should be getting a 100w heater, but I'm not sure if I should get a 150w just in case 100w is not enough.

What should I get?

Not sure haha. but I need to get my temperature up by 10 degrees. The capacity to rise temp. by 8 degrees of a 100w Hydor heater is 14-26 gallons

smaller tanks swing harder i wouldnt do more than a 100w personally i always tell people we have to worry about it sticking on more than anything else .....i would hate to have a melted tank

Well yeah I wouldn't want sudden swings in temperature or a melted tank :s I will have it controlled by a reef keeper though. So I should just get the 100w instead of the 150w.

i always tell people to go smaller so that they time to react 97% (thats a random number but sounds about right ) of the people i deal with dont have a high tech timer/ controller if thats the case and u trust it than go with the 150w ( ive never had a controller so no clue of they work )

I know what you mean, and I think you are totally right.

I do trust my controller hehe. But I don't want to buy a bigger one if the smaller will work fine.

You will be fine with 100w, I run a 100w on a 25g and the temp stays at a constant 78 degrees.

Well I got the 100w and temp has been constant for the past 4 days :)
