I am torn between which controller I want to buy. It would be used on a 30 cube. I want to use it for ATO, Temp control, Light timing (halide, PC, and led moonlight), maybe some kalk dosing. I know the Elite is probably a bit overkill for what I want to do but as with all my hobbies I always end up going bigger over time. I am a firm believer in the "buy once cry once" concept.......so should I go Elite or Lite? I will be using the net module with either of them. Someone talk me into a decision. I had thought a LFS was going to have some black friday specials on controllers but I have not seen SQUAT!

well the lite will handle what you have posted but unless you get crative with options thats going to basicly max it out. If you have the funds and know you are going to expand then you might as well step up and get the elite. I have the lite and wish I had gone elite but cant justify the trade in progam becuase I need more outlets and would like some of the other features of the elite and the upgrade program is only the head unit swap and then you also have to buy a new temp prob becuase the lite temp prob does not work with it or at least that is how I understand it.

with everything you stated........ bite the bullet and buy the elite. I had the lite and the elite and the only real diff is how many pc4 and lil things like how many alarms, number of stand by's you can program. also you can choose diff color for the display!! lol

you can do a lot with the rkl but if your goin to need more than 4x pc4(16outlets) then get the RKE. but the basic controls are the same in both.

I have the lite and also wish I had gone with the elite. It turns out the four module max is pretty limiting.

Now tell guys, what all do you control with it? I figured I was about as automated as it's going to get? What am I missing?

Neptune Apex has some great stuff if you are considering the Reef Keeper Elite

currently I have a pc4, phprobe,sw5 so thats 3 channles of the 4 used. Now I am adding a 60bulb led that has 5 meanwell drivers. With the alc moduals only able to drive 2 meanwells to full power it willt ake 3 of them to push my 5 meanwells so thats 3 more channles. I would like to add my currently2 dosing pumps and 2 more dosing pumps. So I am well over the max of 4 moduals for the lite.

Oh wow so it's the light modules that put you over. My main tank is on AI and they of course they have their own controller. My seahorse tank has LED but it's plugged into the PC4 so my lights at most take up 3 plugs on the PC4. I have SL1s on each tank for Auto Top off on the seahorse tank and for kalk(pH monitored) top off on the reef tank. ph probes are on the SL1 as is the float switch that's on the ATO. So three modules on each tank for me. Maybe I should add one for something lol
