a few days ago i treated my tank for cyano bacteria with chemiclean. I let it run its corse for the 48 hours with the skimmer turned off. After the 48 hrs i did a 20% water change and then turned the skimmer on and it is bubbling like crazy even when adjusted as low as it can go. It will fill the cup with water in about an hour or so. So i waited a week with the skimmer off and did another 20% water change turned the skimmer on again and same result. Any ideas of how i can get this fixed? I was hoping with the second water change it would dilute the majority of the chemiclean. My tank and sump combined is about 95 gallons if that helps any. My skimmer is an octopus 200 series.

any input will help Thanks in advance

Sounds like there is still residue of the chemical in the tank. That is the only thing I can think that would make it go crazy after dosing. Did you by chance clean the skimmer before putting it back online?

no, i didn't clean it before turning it back on. I fig that it would be fine since i had turned the skimmer off before putting the chemiclean in the water so there wouldnt be alot of the treated water in the skimmer.. I'll try taking the skimmer apart and fully cleaning it.

that's why I won't ever use that stuff again, water changes and just let it run it's corse run carbon also. that stuff kills your skimmer production. use zeovits coral snow it actually works and sps like it make polyps extend to feed.

I would not worry about cleaning the skimmer. I was just asking if you had to try to narrow down why it was over skimming. I have cleaned my skimmer very well before and it has gone crazy for a couple of days until it gets dirty again.

I think you just need to keep up with a few more water changes and try the skimmer again after that.
