Quick post something about your tank that has nothing to do with selling anything! Let's show Cory that we can talk about as much reef stuff as there are sales posts!
I'll start with sad and maybe crazy news: I am missing one of my seahorses. The girls have always done splendid! Had them for almost a year now and they were 2 years old when I got them I think. I added a new male just recently and everything was peachy there.
And now one of the girls, Poppy, is missing. I noticed pH was dropping. That's what caused me to look for bodies in the tank. I didn't find her.
So either she died and the crabs ate her and her demise was the reason for the pH drop as a result of major nutrient cycling. Or (almost worse): I yanked her out when I took out huge clumps of Prolifera. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Either way. How horrible. Keeping a close eye on the remaining pair Patches and Paul.
Also I am single parenting right now and always got my kids on my tail so I am waiting for bed time until I can crawl under the big reef tank where I am storing the Prolifera clumps in the big sump. Hoping for a miracle to find Poppy there...

For my own sad news, I found my kole tang on the floor this morning. Too late to save him :(

I am currrently fighting cyano in my tank. I did a 50% water change today and will be doing 1 gallon changes each week from here on out. It is and will always be a fishless tank from here on out.

I am here in class waiting to go home and feed my fish. My tank here at work is looking good and the two jaw fish are getting too fat, so I guess I better cut back the food

It's ironic that this thread designed to compete with the for sale forum will receive this plug.
Mike, they're selling some really big tanks in the for sale threads :D
JK, but really mike. You had the chance to upgrade to a shark tank while kristy was in HI. :)

I don't have much hope. I yanked out most of the Prolifera in the seahorse tank so I can see better (they get lost in there so easily) and still don't see her in the seahorse tank. And I took out the macro of the big sump and didn't find anything so I guess that's it. She was in great health! And seahorse don't really 'fight' with each other. The good news is Paul has already learned to eat from the feeder and seems to be gaining weight (looked very hollow when he arrived) and is getting along really well with Patches.

In keeping with the sucky news, I finally tested my tank yesterday (been almost two months since my last test) and nitrates were above 20ppm. Time for a large water change.

Mike what are you going to do with your tank? Have it fixed again? Or buy new. What a pooper!
The ponies are called Poppy (the one missing -she was the biggest one), Patches (the remaining female) and Pauly (the new male).
What, CoryDude, don't make me doubt my $500 investment!!! What are the values coming out of the reactor?

Okay got home last night around 9 and eveybody was waiting to get fed. My 300 is finally getting over its bubble algae out break which is on the decline thanks to phosphate remover pads replacing my normal blue fluff pads on my trickle/wet dry filter, and my phosban filter full of BRS GFO stuff from Elegant Reef. My imperator and flame angel are still happy go lucky in the 100 gallon QT tub. Flame goes into the 300 next week with the imp the week after. Since I added the homeless Naso to my 300 I wanted to give him a couple of weeks to adjust before adding aggressive fish. In my 40 the pair of yellow head jawfish are really getting brave staying out and farther away from there burrows. Plus they finally have pretty good burrows, both of these jawfish sucked at building burrows. I changed back to T5HO's on the 40 from the Marineland LED and the 2 stunner strips. But now it doesn't seem bright enough so I am adding a Panorama Pro LED 445 blue/magenta to help the T5HO on color.

And now the Fedex is here to deliver my chalk bass group! :)
The truck is sitting in my driveway but he can't deliver the package because he's on break for another 3 minutes. And I jumped out of the shower for this! Could have finished washing my hair...tst.
Alright. 3 minutes from now I will see how well my little basslets traveled...

I added a sump to my 29, in addition to the emperor 400 that is on there. I'm excited b/c I now have a skimmer running, added some LR, and I plan to run some macro to help combat algae in the display. Having some cyano problems right now so I adjusted flow and target the source, phosphates/nitrates. Unless someone has a better method, that is. Also, if anyone has some cheato, I need some.
In addition to that, I am selling off several of my smaller tanks. Two 55s and maybe some of my extra tanks/equipment. I have separation issues, so it's hard for me to sell my setups, especially ones I built custom stands for, but I am planning to replace my 'show' 55 in the living room with a 150 or bigger reef tank. I can't wait.
Here is my 29 on Monday, I think.

i broke my nano sps system and took all my sps to my DT......about a month ago i switched to leds and went a full blown zeovit system.....
so far i am impressed with the growth besides dealing with the red and hair algae....red algae has pretty much slowed down and kinda getting under control but battling with hair alage....i woudnt blame my zeo additives all for that I think change in light spectrum has much role in the algae outbreak...
I am thinking about dosing an extra drop of zeobak and see what happens!!!

My bluejaw isn't looking too good, looks like it has ich pretty bad. My lone digi (my tester) has stayed alive under panorama night lights with only about an hour of halides. I think my mag 9.5 is much too hot for my system. I turned my skimmer off for a week or so, and noticed that the temps still ride higher than they should seeing as how my only two submerged pumps are the only in tank heat source.

I LOVE my chalk basslets! So pretty. So calm. I wish I had ordered more. :(
I read they had to be introduced as a group to work out well and I ordered 4, one arrived almost dead in the bag but I acclimated him anyway. He sank to the bottom of the tank and was never seen again. The other 3 seemed fine yesterday but I don't see the littlest one today.
So I have a group of two. Just two. Four would have been an awesome sight but two are very pretty too. Can highly recommend them to anybody that wants a 'group of fish'.

Mike what are you going to do with your tank? Have it fixed again? Or buy new. What a pooper!
It was a really crazy night. Mike woke up at 2am saying he smelled something burning. We found a fast leak pouring out of the tank and hitting the electrical outlet! Mike got a good shock while unplugging things too. Then we had to do a superfast tank breakdown, putting all the LR and fish into two empty tanks we had around (29g and 40g breeder) while draining the tank and then throw 8 or 10 dripping wet tank towels into the wash while we began using the shop vac on the floor. It was NOT a fun way to spend 4 hours that should have been sleeping.
So, the new game plan is....
Out with the 75g leaker.
Moving the 140g brick in Saturday.
And then, figure out how to build some sort of cabinetry shell to enclose the stand and the sides that have exposed pipes. This part could take a while.

Yikes. Glad he survived that too (electro shock...). You can add GFCI to the breaker boxes by the way. So it can trip it rather than use the husband... tst tst, Kristy!

well if my only two survivors are male and female and have babies I will call you and drop off the fry. :)
They actually seem to be more relaxed and out and about with a buddy so I think it's more natural and preferable to have a group - BUT with them being basslets that introduction has to happen all at the same time or else they will defend their territory towards newcomers.

My Redsea 260D is doing well. Had to move it to replace some floor/carpet from an air conditioner related incident. The move caused me a bit of a spike from the sandbed being stirred a bit. however its doing very well health wise, just a bit of cyano from the move/rescape.
I still have my 4 chromis and blue tang that I bought here almost a year and a half ago from someone taking a tank down. I have a few things that I saved out of the nuke job I went through with Erik H's old stuff.
No signs of ANY pests or issues in this tank at all. I haven't introduced a thing in as long as I have had the stuff from Erik so 6-8 months I think?
Made some frags for the meet Saturday, hopefully I can find a few new additions for myself. Though I really just need a few new healthy fish. Wife is getting bored with just letting the tank grow out.
I got rid of all my other tanks. just have an empty 10 in case of emergencies.

Well today is tank cleaning day. Wish me luck. I'm using some crappy salt I bought a long time ago because my stock pile of salt is gone and I didn't realize it.
Lost my maxima clam this week. Was fine Thursday, but looked yesterday and it was gone. Also lost some acans recently.
Babies are growing. They love the large squamosa clam, big hammer, frogspawn, SPS, rocks or whatever. Mama and papa aren't real happy they are there. I think Papa wants a divorce. No eggs this time around.

It appears to be fine. I know I have slightly elevated phosphate levels, nitrates are high too, but the clams shouldn't care about the nitrates, they should love it. I will change the carbon/phosphate pad today (if I can figure out how to get to it on one leg).
