I'm in one of those moods that won't go away.

My 150g display is perfect, yet I want to take it down.

I want to move everything from the 55g breeder/sump I just set up a few months ago to my 40g and take the 55g down.

Good thing I'm lazy. I wonder what I will do with 4 days off. Probably nothing.

sometimes change is good. sometimes you regret it
you have a lot going on and worrying about stuff.
I say just let it coast for now. No harm in waiting awhile before deciding :)

On the 150 there is a country song that comes to mind? The 150 is too perfect to mess with. Play with the others, leave that one alone.

Maybe the babies is the key - a lot of repetitive tasks there. Maybe drop the business part for awhile and go back to it being a hobby rather than a money maker?
I know they always say that it's so awesome when you can turn a hobby into a business but I don't think it's uncommon for it to be less fun when a hobby turns into work. :(

Feed the fish, sit back, let everything else do it's thing.

A little rest and just chillin will do you good :)

(or get rid of the boring stuff and get some seahorses!)

You know when I had my 100 gallon and it went into grow out mode where I did not have to do anything but enjoy it I got bored and wanted to build another one. Sometimes I think we love reef keeping not only for its beauty but we also love building them. The thought and feeling of buying new/used equipment putting it together and creating a sustainable ecosystem for marine life to thrive is very exciting.

i say new tanks every year is fun!!!! i like building them

I like setting up the smaller tanks, but I'm getting to old for the big ones anymore.

The clowns are pretty much like taking care of adults at this point, mostly auto feeders and no live food! That was a huge help.

The seahorsies coming up for sale didn't help. One day I will have some. Oh gosh, more live food again. Dang!

Europhyllia
Thu, 6th Oct 2011, 12:29 PM
you could get just girl seahorses and then no need for livefood. or just give all the fry to Ace and still no live food :)

Whaaaat? Do I need to come over and do a mental health assessment? You can't tear down that beautiful tank!

I do agree that we are drawn to / hooked on the challenge of this hobby and sometimes need to look for a new angle to keep that part going. But it doesn't have to mean dismantling tanks!

Ok mom, I will leave it alone. Except I already put 2 baby picassos and a platinum in there today. Not that it needed more fish, but any change is good, right? They look cute, now that big mama has decided they can stay.

We need pics of the family reunited! Are they close to mom and dad?

I hope you keep your 150 the way it is. It's been an inspiration for my tank.

Thanks Cory.

I put the kids on the opposite side of the tank as mom and dad, up by the GBTA that hides all the time. Bunny and Scarface are hosting the frogspawn and Frosty is trying to figure out how to host in the GSP which looks way cool. Will try and get pics, but you know how fun that is!

I shipped more premiums out yesterday to opposite sides of the country.

That's so cool that you were able to keep track of Frosty. You'll need a Rudolph for Christmas.

BSJF

Maybe I will rename Scarface Rudolph. He is missing this morning though. I think he is in the anemone, but don't really know. Frosty and Bunny teamed up in the frogspawn.

Europhyllia
Fri, 7th Oct 2011, 10:16 AM
(which was lovely by the way. if you want to have an open house for fragging or shrimp babies I'll so be there again lol)

BSJF
Fri, 7th Oct 2011, 10:32 AM
The house is always open! You need mysis shrimp or monster pods? I will probably get a mysis shrimp collection sunday or monday night with the clowns that I am collecting for Ace's class.

And what frags you looking for?

Europhyllia
Fri, 7th Oct 2011, 10:38 AM
I was just kidding but I bet the seahorses would love some mysis if you got some. And I may need a small starter culture of rotis and nanno. The girls are all over Pauly already

BSJF
Fri, 7th Oct 2011, 10:46 AM
I don't have rotis or nanno, check with Ace in a few weeks.

I will save the mysis for you if I collect any. They are crawling all over the barnacles I have in the anemone tank. It's like there is a convention of mysis and pods going on in there, so I might even be able to collect some adults for you (but they are fast little buggers!

+1 for Scarface! The idea of the tough guy name on that cute little juvie clownfish with that cute little mark on his cheek... it's so perfect!

Scarface and friends:
http://youtu.be/XHb2GRo8a2U (http://youtu.be/XHb2GRo8a2U)

I ended up deciding to put a fourth clown in the display. Another platinum. It has enough orange that maybe it can be Rudolph. Haven't gotten any pics of him yet.

I also decided which ones would stay in the 55g, the rest were moved to the 40g.

Changes are good.

lol. See and all it took was moving clowns around. Well that was easy!

BSJF

I love them in the display. The 55g looks completely empty! May have to mix something else up.

I think a beautiful carpet, with the clown parents would be lovely in there.

I think the display would be lovely with 15 crazy clowns and 9 anemones.

Oh, another day. Good thing I go back to work tomorrow and I have no $$ and didn't find a beautiful red carpet anemone today.

Take a peak at the new and improved 55 setup. These are the clowns I picked for myself. And a clip of the monster pods and mysis shrimp haven. Ace you might recognize the barnicles.
