The general rule is 1lb per gallon. But with todays ultra light live rock it will vary. They only question I have is how much do you have since you have already added fish?

i have about 50 pounds of live rock that came from an established tank.

You could add the Johnny Cash "One Piece At A Time" until you got it built up, but you will have to use well establshed/cured LR. And of course check your levels as you do it.

I would get as much as you need to do some nice rockscaping. It might be 20 lbs +/- than a lb per gallon.Where are you planning to buy your live rock?

Dry rock will weigh much less so the lb per gallon rule won't apply.

If you get LR from an LFS don't add it all at once. Their rock hasn't been through the proper curing process like an established tank.

*** Not dissing the LFS, just stating the fact that they move too much LR for the die off process to be complete. ;-)
