I've been pretty MIA on here lately due to summer vacations, moving, and school starting back up but I'm back! I decided to downsize and tear down my 40g breeder setup that was TOTM a few months back (thanks guys!!) and finally setup this Mr. Aqua 12g Long that I've had sitting around. This is definitely an upgrade.. I moved the 40g setup 2 months ago into my new house and set it up real quick just to keep everything alive and healthy until the new tank was ready. For about a month now I have been working on setting up the nano and just this past weekend I finally started transferring corals.. I still have a long ways to go.

Tank info:

Mr. Aqua 12g Long (36"x9"x9") mounted on the wall
Vortech mp10 ESw for circulation
50w Heater
3 par38 Spotlights (Took me WEEKS and a dozen fixtures before I found one I like)
Almost all of my corals from the 40g
2 GCR Onyx Clowns w/ RBTA
Green Mandarin

The whole idea behind this tank is to make it look super modern and completely original, so far I'm very pleased with it.

Here are pictures of the 40g and a few teasers of the 12g, I'll post more pictures of it when I'm done setting it up.

Here you can get an idea of what I'm going for, this is not how it will stay, just a rough idea.

Thats all for now, I've got some real unique ideas for this tank I'm excited to show off in the upcoming days. ALL of the wiring will be completly hidden to so dont worry about those!

are you confident about the bracing?

And goodness as a TOTM representative I am starting to feel like the Kiss of Death to tanks! Seems like most TOTM tanks are bing torn down shortly after we feature them. :o

Haha thats too funny Karin! And yes the bracing is more than enough, there is no way the tank will weigh more than 120 pounds MAX and the brackets are good for 200+ with the correct hardware. I sat on the shelf and it was solid as a rock.

Very unique tank! Which par bulbs did you get? Will you be keeping fish? What kind of filtration?

the bulbs are 14k I believe (3 white and 2 blue) and I finished setting it up yesterday! The wired all still need to be hidden but the corals and fish are all in. NO filtration, just the mp10 for flow and a 5g water change every week or two. Ill get some pictures up in the next few days.

Bingo!! I do a water change every 1-2 weeks but thats about it. This is by far the easiest tank I have ever kept!

And Karin, the anemone is liking it a little TOO much, its gotten so much bigger its touching that rock to the right of it!

I LOVE LEDS!!!!!

I'm with you on appreciating nanos. It has been close to a month since I cleaned algae off the glass and it still doesn't have a speck. No skimmer, occasionally a few grams of gfo, and regular water changes....gotta love it.

What kind of substrate is that? It looks very unique. The chaeto you have in there is about to climb out of your tank! I love the simplicity to this, nice work.

Always feeding those scolys!!

I do water changes about once every other week, 4 gallons, so about 33%.

And that substrate im not exactly sure! I was going with a barebottom at first so I wasnt worried about substrate but when I was at petco I saw this stuff and fell in love. Its mostly black with a few other colored sands and all different sizes from fine to large pebbles. LOVE it!

I want to start by apologizing to the amazing crowd here at MAAST for my leave of absence lately. I am ashamed to say I haven’t logged on this site once in the last 5 months!

I have been extremely busy since you all have last heard from me. I graduated in December (finally) and went home to St. Louis for a month after that. When I came back in January I began work on a project that I am keeping close to the chest for the time being, I will fill you all in more once I can but it is EXCITING NEWS. Other than that I have had a birthday and fell IN LOVE with another hobby which has been taking up a ton of my time as well... vintage motorcycles, specifically cafe racers. With my project and my new hobby I lost interest in my fish tank for a few months and just recently fell in love with it all over again. Well I cleaned up the tank and snapped a bunch of pictures and thought I would share and hopefully begin to contribute to this site once again. I am leaving Corpus and moving to Austin in July to begin a new life and new aquarium which I could not be more excited about. It will be really nice to live closer to everyone too so I can attend more events and buy more coral :). I'm back!

Anyways, the tank... "Moonlights" go on at 7am (too bright to keep on all night), the first par38 turns on at 9 and the other two at 12, then the first goes off at 6 and the other two at 9 with the moonlight on until midnight. This first succession of photos shows the lighting sequences.

Last but not least is Betty, my 1974 Honda CB360. It didn't run when I bought it but I did a complete rebuild including engine, repainting everything and made my own wiring harness. I have a ways to go still but its almost there, since these pictures were taken I swapped the handlebars for clip-on's and had a custom exhaust made. Ill make a thread and go into detail but this is good for now.

Well I made a major decision and am moving to Boston, MA towards the end of July now! The tank and all of the corals will be put up for sale/trade! I just want to keep my anemone and clowns and zoas, everything else needs a new home.

I cant post in the for sale section anymore as a non-charter?

You know I hate to say it but the krypto candy canes are in pretty rough shape right now, they got hit hard by one of the anemones and started to die but have since began to make a slight recovery. If you want them and promise to rehab them you can have 'em free of charge. I am in Corpus though which may be a problem.

And thank you everyone!!

I will still log on here to MAAST every now and then and once I get my project(company) up and running I will be a sponsor on here as well as every reef related site! So hint hint... My company has something to do with reefs! (not aquariums though)
