Is yours wild caught, or a clone?

Clones are amazingly resilient. If it's being shipped, the best thing you can do is to get it in new water fairly quickly.

It will wander for a bit the first week or so - but once they find a place they like, they tend to stay there. Right now, my 2 are still wandering the tank, after a split a couple of weeks ago - they go thru that process after a split too.

They WILL find any power head, heater, drain, etc. So make sure you protect them from this. That's why my big tank had enclosed power heads.

Personally, I don't feed them directly - they appear to be primarily photosynthetic, and will snag whatever comes by.

Feeding also stresses them out and they tend to move. Try and put them in a spot where they get medium flow and high light if they reach out for them. Also make sure they can hide their foot fairly well. I haven't had any really wander with this placement. They will look bad the first day as they dispell all their old water but will start looking better soon after. As far as acclimating I don't really put too much into these as they keep the old water inside them for awhile so drip acclimation is kind of pointless. Still float the bag and get the temps the same. Like Bill said they are pretty hardy just watch your phosphates and nitrates although your corals will start getting affected before the nem. Hope that helps.

alright little update on my nemo.......
i placed in a 1/2 wide whole...its been three weeks it hasnt moved from there yet....it expands during photoperiod and hides when light goes off.....
since its a small clone it doesnt fascinate me too much but it been coloring up day by day....i feed him twice a week with brine shrimps and hope it grow bigger soon:bigsmile:

ive noticed too much food can bother them and make them poop a lot. all my nems have thrived without feeding, i believe Bill has the same idea on nems.

Same here, never feed mine, and they do just fine. My original nem gets the leftover food that my clowns don't get, but I never directly feed them.
