View Full Version : What should I put in my pico?

I set up a Fluval Spec tank. It holds about 1.5 gallons. It has a one inch sand bed and rubble filling the filter compartment.

I can’t find any fish that would be happy in such a small place (that I would be happy putting in there).

I love shrimp and critters, so I’m leaning that direction. Something that wouldn’t survive in the big tank, or would be too small to be seen, or just wouldn’t be reef safe.

Anemone shrimp or saron shrimp would be cool.

Any other suggestions I should look into?

Saron shrimp are a great idea! What about green banded gobies?

Is 2 inches too big for a pico? A goby would be cool.

I wouldn't mind a single critter in the tiny tank, I just wasn't sure what would be too much/too big.

A tail spot goby is what got me excited about the pico in the first place, but at 2.5 inches I thought it might be too big.

We have a tailspot and I think they would be okay in the pico.

We have a tailspot and I think they would be okay in the pico. Or a couple barnacle blennies would be cool.

It's only a gallon and a half. I'm thinking that's too small for a tailspot... but maybe one of those tiny barnacle blennies. They're adorable.

What about sexy shrimp? They like to live in groups and are so fun to watch as they sashay around the tank.

Depending on your house temp you might do a catalina goby. I would test temp with lights on first though.
