My Kenya trees in my 80 gallon are dying off. They get brown spots and then branches fall. Anyone know whats wrong? All my other corals (mushrooms, xenias, zoes, gsp, bsp....) All doing fine and thriving. It's only killing the keynas.

Sounds like it is fragging itself. I had a similar situation happen to mine. Is there any visible rotting going on? You know when I met you the other day and you showed me a video of your tank, I was kind of thinking that the bubble stone is something you should consider removing. I didn't want to say anything at the moment. Most reefers have bubble traps in their sump to remove bubbles. It has something to do with fish and their gills getting infected. I'm not really sure. Do a search on micro bubbles and saltwater fish. They can also cause algae blooms. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with what is going on with your Kenya trees. Anyways I managed to save my kenyas by just the branches that fell off. I did cut the mother tree to stop it from creating a Kenya forrest. Just my two cents. Research the bubbles...Lou

I had a really nice tree. A few times it would frag itself, a few other times a branch would start to melt, those I would cut away.

I eventually lost the mamma tree, and never discovered what was causing it. Perhaps not enough flow.

check for nudibranchs. sometimes they are very hard to find as they will really look like the coral they are eating.

I don't think they are fraging. The branches melt away or shrivle up. And as far as the bubbles......my airstone strip has been in my tank since day one. The Kenya trees too so I don't know a year later its now all of a sudden an issue.....u would think if that was the cause it would have happened long before now. I will take it out and see what happens.

Any one else want to chime in on saltwater and micro bubbles? This most likely has nothing to do with what is going on with the Kenya trees. I don't want to misinform someone and have them remove something they like in their tank. I always thought that air stones was a no no in saltwater.

I have some Kenya that came from a mother colony that frags itself once in awhile. If you or anyone would like a frag let me know. Some are a good 5'' - 6'' tall now and healthy. One mini colony has some Xena on it too. The mother colony still occasionally frags itself and doen't really like heavy flow. I usually take 'em out and toss them.
