Anyone have experience with these or are they a waste?

I don't have specific experience, only hear-say, but they work on a small tank (nano). Anything else will probably need a chiller.

Yeah I knew that lol. I have a 29 gallon nano but I think I will change to led first to see if that knocks out my heat problem first since my house temp is always around 78 degrees. Thanks though!

Try doing one led at a time to save some cash.... I did the daylight bulb on mine first to knock out most of the heat, swapped it with a panorama strip. Now I am completely swapped over with 3 of them and would never go back, well worth it.

I dont run a chiller or a heater in my sons 24 gallon aquapod temp around 79 degrees. I think the MJ 1200 conversion has something to do with that...
