I sold my 46 gallon tank today. I have a ten gallon tank. Would my small clown, small manderin, small royal gramma and small eibli eye dwarf angel be okay in there temporarily. They will go in with their own established water and all. Please let me know asap please.....Monica

Sounds risky.
For how long?
When you say "established water and all" what does that mean? Live rock, sand? What filtration/aeration will there be?
Fish are shipped in a small amount of water with a slightly larger amount of air. They are kept in these conditions for 48 to 72 hours, but are very stressed by it. Housing some species separately may help with some stress. The longer they are in cramped conditions, the worse they will be. Some species deal with it worse than others.
Are you planning on keeping them long term? Or setting up another tank?

Sand, rock and filter and of course the water. A week maybe. Setting up another tank a bit bigger. Monica

I think that's WAY too much for a 10 gallon.

could you delay pick up of the tank by the buyer until you have the new tank?
Or maybe sell your fish and buy new fish when you are ready?

I am on my phone, so cannot see your location or if you are a charter member. Charter members have access to the equipment library. You could borrow a larger tank and even HOB filter. Just a thought.

I would suggest no...it might be ok but they'll stress to much....

I wouldn't put the sand in it, just the rock and filter. Disturbing the sand bed that much would probably create a cycle. I have a 30g drilled tank with an ugly stand that you could have N/C, but you would need to plug the side hole in it.

yea agree too small of a tank, also is the Mandarin eating frozen or pellets. depending on how long it will be in there and also the time it will take to establish a new tank it may starve.

Petco is having their dollar per gallon sell in some areas (not sure about SA). You could pick up a 20G or even 40G for $20 or $40. You could then sell them for about that when you're done with them. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Thanks everyone I think the petco idea is what I might try. Fish are okay still. Monica

how long are you planning on keeping them in a small setup. what i forgot to mention is it's not just the room but the bio load for a small tank, what kind of filter is on the 10g. just a lil ammonia spike will wipe out your fish.

Perhaps an exit strategy should have been laid out before selling the 46 gallon. I would not trust your temporary setup past 4-5 days.
