Hi all,
I'm new to MAAST and am checking to see if anyone knows a good local store in SA or online that offers the best prices on replacement PC bulbs for my biocube 29 gallon? Thanks for any responses!

Not sure about best price... but definitely call around for availability. Those seem to be hard to come by sometimes, since they're an imported item.

Good looking out Ruben, but I believe the biocubes have a straight pin configuration, while mine have a square pin....Eitherway I have what u need if u ever want to add a 3rd PC bulb in there...Asfar as shops carrying those bulbs, my locals usually do, seen them at Texas tropical & aquarium designs....Asfar as price, that will vary, best to call first..

Thanks 350gt but if I add any lights to the biocube I will go LEDs next. I did call Texas tropical and they are asking 28 bucks for a replacement bulb. Also polly's pet shop wanted 33 bucks, Reefs2u.com wanted 30 bucks, and Aquarium designs was closed today. Its crazy cuz you can order the exact same bulb online and pay less even with shipping included. I think I will just order it online. I know that the bulb needs to be replaced cuz my actinic went out recently and I had to replace it. I bought the Biocube used on craigslist and the lady said it was only 3 months used. She totally lied about that but you don't know these things til after you have set the product up. I have already modded the sump anyways so it's not your typical standard cube any more anyways.

Just go led, that's what I did with my aquapod and the little corals I have in there are responding well to it...I had the same issue with buying mine used, but that's the kind of **** that is expected... I bought new bulbs and I shouldn't have. I quickly swapped to led, which is why I have these stock PC bulbs here..Btw, I did the actinic bulb first too... I am selling a set of stunner led strips too if u want to add some color n shimmer..

How powerful of an LED strip would be suitable for my tank? What would I be looking at as far as cost? I would love to put better lighting in for stony corals. I have heard scary numbers as far as cost goes.

You can do what I did.... replace one at a time.. thats why I like the ecoxotic panorama strips.

I am running three on my sons aquapod and it looks so much more better.

Some might say you can replace the hood for what I spent on 3 strips but if a problems occurs on the board your out of luck, if it happens to one of my strips I can remove that certain strip and not have to be without light for very long.

Plus if your going to spend $30 on a PC bulb now, might as well dump a little more and not have to replace in 9 months, or for 50,000 hours they claim...

Would these be better for LPS and SPS corals?

That some one else might have to answer but in the nano right now I have a few shrooms, candy canes, zoas, xenia, duncans and a piece of SPS and they all are doing fine.

Due to tight funds, I went ahead and bought a replacement light on mediabaskets.com as it was only 24 bucks. I am definitely going to change out the lights to leds in the not-too-distant future thought. Those modules you showed me look pretty cool.

If you decide to go with Ecoxotic LED's in the future, Elegant Reef has Panorama's and Stunner's(50/50) in stock, I sell them, and just about everything else, for the same price the big online shops sell them for.
