Go here:

And search for Dog Shows. They are the superintendent for most shows. Most breeders have "pet quality" dogs they are looking for homes for, on occasion. These are EXCELLENT dogs - just not conformationally good enough to win a championship. They are sold at significant discounts, they have excellent pedigrees, and they come with guarantees. It REALLY is the best place to find a purebred dog.

You can also check www.petfinder.com (http://www.petfinder.com) and search for any Dobie's available through the numerous rescue agencies/animal shelters. In a quick look there it appears there is at least one breed specific rescue group for them. That's how I found my dog that I adopted from a German Shepherd rescue group. I know about a year and a half ago I went to a big pet adoption event that was out at the Rim shopping center with all the different groups there and I remember 2 beautiful Doberman's there up for adoption. I was very tempted, but my son liked the GSD mix we had seen at the rescue group.

Interesting, I've never heard of anything like that before and I've looked at several rescue groups. The one I used is based about 1.5 to 2 hours from where I live. They actually have foster homes for the dogs all over central/south Texas and they had someone local do the home inspection prior to adoption being approved. Only rescue groups I don't get are the ones that refuse to let you adopt a dog if you intend to keep it outside for any amount of time. As if when cavemen discovered dogs they were all sitting in air conditioned caves. Anyway, good luck in your search.
