Can't figure out the new friend function

I was able to respond to friend requests on the old format but now I just don't get it.
I get a request. I click on the link. I see all of my old friends from before.
The new person requesting doesn't show at all. No name and no check box to click.
So they're never really added.
I don't want to look like I am snubbing people.
Can somebody please explain how to accept friend requests on the new format? :blushing:

wait! friend requests? I have never heard of this! I'm feeling a bit lonely now... I didn't even know you could "friend" someone on here. I must not have very many friends.:innocent2::shades:

I'm not sure what they are good for. Are they associated with a function? An alert if a friend hasn't posted in a month or so would be nice. Can't think of anything else right now. lol

It used to have a box of your friends names that popped up when you log in, made it clear which of your friends were also logged in, and it was one click to PM them. Now we don't have all that so I'm not sure what the benefit is, other than looking cool... :shades:
