Looking forward to another
Tank Tour in San Antonio...
Saturday June 11
Rescheduled for end of summer
Times and agendas will be announced closer to the actual date,
but for now, we need to enlist some
volunteers to show off your tanks. :applause:
Who would like to let us come view your tank?
All types of marine aquariums are welcome.
They can be newly set up or ones that have been around for years,
even if people have viewed them lots of times.
It's fascinating to see how a tank progresses over time.

We are happy to show our tanks if the schedule allows room for us. We've shown them for the past couple of years, although there are a few recent changes.

JT, how long we spend varies from tank to tank. The owner usually does a short presentation of the tank, explains the basics, shows us what's under the hood, and answers questions. We have traditionally scheduled about 30 minutes for each home (not counting travel time) and the crowd can move through in shifts when space is an issue. I think last year we had around 50 people attend the tank tours, but not all at the same time (some came early, some joined us later, etc.)
We are kicking around the idea of doing it differently this year though, depending on the number of tanks we get on the tour... exploring an alternate way where a few houses are assigned a time block and people can stop in during that time block and linger, then move on at their own pace. That would keep us from having the crowds but would mean that the person showing their tank would miss out on getting to see the others in their time block because they'd be at home playing the host. Feel free to let me know which idea you prefer as we work out the details!

JT, last year the freeloaders hung around for about 40 minutes. LOL just kidding.
But they were there about 40 minutes and it was Kristy that was the one marshaling folks out the door.
The block time sounds like a good idea.,, but even though I don't like crowds I think it may be awkward should you show up to a home and be the only one.
If I may kristy, and this still puts the tank owners unavailable to tour... How about several groups, each with a MAAST rep that serves as a guide on varied schedules. This way the groups would be smaller and perhaps that much easier to manage?
You could further manage the group by genre, fowlr specific, sps dom, softies only, or just the entire Tour with separate start points around the city.

I had mine on the tour last year, but Kristy if you need tanks you can add me. Since the tour I have made some changes and new additions. Also pencil me in for now. I might be moving in the next month or so, I will keep you posted on my status......

So June is working out to be an impossible time to have an event. Several people who wanted to participate this weekend are unable to and a couple of folks have had to drop out at the last minute, so we have decided to postpone the Tank Tour until the end of the summer. Sorry guys, stay tuned for more details...
