i placed my war coral on the rock under a small shelf. well my hermits pushed it off into my acans. put it this way it wasnt much of a war. war coral lost 3/4 of its flesh. now he is sitting on the sand all by himself. lets see if it will recover under the new evolution ufo led light.

I've had something similar happen but two acans vs. a lobo. The lobo won. Also, it only got one or two polyps but the whole colony ended up melting away. I couldn't believe how potent the sting was. Good luck though, I hope they recover.

Same here! I never thought either would be real aggressive since they don't have sweapers, but man it was an ugly fight. What do they do, toss their guts at the neighbor and hope for the best?

Meanwhile, the guilty party is peaceful next to a bunch of softies, even when they're touching. Allelopathy is fascinating. :nerd:

Yeah, I really would have put my money on the acan before it happened. Now, I would take my lobo against anyone else's top coral. I'm pretty sure it has what it takes to be the best. And yes, it does just spew it's guts out. I've seen it do it to an aiptasia.

The rule on touching/fight corals is simple (according to Richard): The cheapest coral always wins!

Unfortunately, I recently had my Galaxea wipe out my Lobo in a single night from over five inches away. I couldn't believe it and pleased, I am not.

I think we have an idea for a meeting activity. Coral fights! Bring your baddest, meanest, toughest coral and we put them in a tank. Last one still inflated is the winner. We could take bets.
