I've been wondering if anyone else splits their light time like I do. I started doing this for heat reasons before I got a better fan. I might not need to anymore, but nothing seems to be bothered by it.

I have them start to come on at 9:00, one ballast at a time. They slowly cut down to one ballast of only actinic lights during the hottest part of the day, then come back on for a while. Then slowly cut off as I'm getting home at night.

It's a long light schedule, but otherwise I don't get to see the tank much because of my work schedule.

I'm glad you brought this up Adrian. As I'm doin something similar with my Clam tank.

Lighting is a 400 watt 12K along with 96 watt PC 10K so I too was worried about Heat. So my time sched is

4am to 8am MH
4pm to 10pm PC

Using the pc lighting along side my 210 which is also powered by PCs from 4pm to 10pm (just so the color isn't offset by the MH)

2x250 SE 12-7 (outer halides)
2X175 SE 12-9 (inner halides)

I run both of my skimmers at night, so it's less heat during the day, and less total wattage. Trying to keep the heat down, as well as the bill ;)

ER RS250, 11-12
ASM 2-7 AM

I also run skimmers at night for the same reasons....same timer as the fuge light

And because I grew up in a trailer park my system is easy.

MH 400 and two T5 on at 9 am to 9 pm. Two LED strips on from 8 pm to 11 pm.

Fuge is one 150 MH and one home depot 90 watt cfm lamp on at 9pm to 930 am.

Skimmer is on all the time but only one pump is functional and it's an external.

My sump fan comes on with the DT's lamps and I keep the overhead ceiling fan on 24/7, and the house no higher than 74.
