Pic from my phone. Tried to get the white balance right but alas some coral came out looking a little pale when I uploaded to the comp. I just moved coral around to make room for the mr. cob order. The war coral is popping, but the photo does not do justice to the monti (right of the toadstool). It glows neon green under actinics. The toadstool is about 3" now, grown from a dropping just few millimeters big. The large polyped gorgonian from Karin was having trouble adjusting (or so I thought), until I added the hydor and put in a MJ1200 for return pump. I'm also running a K1. I tried to get the yellow clown goby in the shot, but he wasn't having it. His fav hiding spot is behind the toadstool. And of course the melanurus is amazing as always.

Lucky, your colors are absolutely beautiful! And Taylor - I remember seeing your tank in person when it was much younger. It has really grown in nicely! You certainly have found your way with the SPS!

So, I looked a couple times.... the "crap pic" must not have loaded. Great tank! Is there just one anthias?

Thanks! Yes, there is just the one anthias. I tried adding another but it didn't go so well. I've actually had more bad luck with fish in this tank than any other tank I've ever had. First i lost a baby powder blue tang. Idk what happened, it was perfectly healthy, eating well, then one day I found it dead in the overflow box :(. Then about 2 weeks ago I found my female clownfish on the floor :(. That one really sucked, I've had the pair for about 5 years. I'm considering trying to pair up the male, but probably won't actually do it. I wouldn't want to run the risk of the two not not getting along and one of them killing the other one.

Once the corals grow out quite a bit I plan to add a school of green chromis (probably 7 or so). I had 11 (I think) in my old 40b and I really liked how they interacted in the tank. It was really cool to see them bunch up together if anything scared them. I would get them now but there isn't adequated hiding areas for them yet.

I really like the DIY aspect of reefing and I intend on building my next tank myself. I see a 60"x24"x 16" coming in the near future, probably before the frags in my current tank even have time to grow into mini colonies.

I was going to wait for my tanks to look better before taking pics but being on the TOTM team I've learned: Don't wait. Right now might be as good as it gets.

So here's the big tank. Same old, same old except for the awesome golden seaspray from Ace's tank that Randy so generously split with me:
http://www.dominopads.com/tankapril2311.jpg

and my sludgy mess of a seahorse tank (it's a corner tank so got 2 views ;):
http://www.dominopads.com/shtankapril2311_1.jpg http://www.dominopads.com/shtankapril2311_2.jpg

(and yes you'll get better pictures if you close it. ;) )

buck27
Thu, 28th Apr 2011, 05:04 AM
Yes it is a solid background, I used marco rock for the main wall and pond foam for the overflows and closed loop. As for the canopy, I didn't have a cover on it yet because I hadn't built it yet at that time. I fabricated a steel frame for the tank and I am currently encasing it in wood. The canopy will be closed for the tank tour. I also built my own 80 gallon sump/fuge out of 1/4" acrylic with a 2" rim. The fuge holds roughly 28 gallons.

I don't have a fts of the 10 or the 12, since all that livestock is currently hanging out in a holding tank, waiting for the new tank to go up. A picture of a plastic tub would be boring, but it might be fun to play "just how much stuff does she have running on that tub"? Just like a regular tank, only ya can't see through it.

Wow, Sherita! Tanks are really looking great. While looking at them I was struck by some ideas regarding how to help you thin out that crowded frag tank! :D

I'm hoping to make a frag swap soon. It's just plain gotten out of hand.

Hi Chris, the tank is a 100 gallon rimless. I built a screen top for it so the fish can't go carpet surfing. Really love the rimless look.

Hi thanks for the compliments... Those are Aussie Duncans that the clowns are hosting in... My wife wont let me get a nem because she thinks that they just die and cause tank crashes....lol
