I blame the thoughtless people who purchase mother natures UnderWater Beauty and creat the Demand for this Slaughter.

You know, if there wasn't a demand they wouldn't have to supply.

This is why it is so important for hobbiest to continue to propagate what we can, and become almost entirely separate from the ocean. Unfortunatly in these poorer island countries this is their only livelyhood. In order to stop this they must change the laws about the collection of these creatures, and once that happens it will change our hobby permanently. Whether we like it or not we are in the same category just different ends, affected by the same laws.

what an eloquent way to address the elephant in the room troy. our hobby is often lumped in with this kind of activity and it is sometimes difficult for me to make a distinction as an environmental teacher.

Troy and Ace, my thoughts exactly. Much like the fishing industry, we, as hobbyists also need to compile a list of what we stock our tanks with that is sustainable, and what isn't. And then encourage folks not to buy/stock those that aren't sustainable.

I agree 100% Troy, Ace, and Bill. One more reason I like the idea of our frag swaps, aquaculture, and mariculture items. Like what was already mentioned prior - the places that are doing this have been doing it for a long long time and to them it is nothing wrong and a way of making a living.

Not trying to Contradict what I said in my original post but was trying to express my feelings in regards to those images

But I strongly agree with the above few posts. Thanks Troy
