before i started my saltwater tank i had a large mouth bass that was about 15 inches long. never had a lid on it the whole time i had it. the night before i was buying a large tank for it, the bass jumped out and was found dead. man i was dissapointed, i do feel your pain.

Sorry about that. If you relaly like that kind of fish perhaps you could consider a mesh top?

Everyone I've ever had did the same thing. Sometimes it only took days, sometimes years.

I do feel your pain. They are really active and inquisitive fish. A six-line was my very first fish in my 20 gallon tank years ago.
I've had better luck with fairy wrasses, so you may want to look at a solar, scott's, blue-head, or other similar type. They don't seem to be as prone to jumping as the flashers and sixlines. But, you still may want to look into a mesh or egg-crate top for your tank if you plan on keeping them.
