Cutting down a sump?

I have a sump that is just about an inch too long. Is it possible to cut it down an inch or so and re-do the end of it? Sump experts, Ace...Jack....Dan....what do y'all think?

Not the easiest thing in the world to do but it can be done with a little extra bracing. Sorry for the late response. I've been out of town.

How old is the sump? Acrylic gets brittle over time and tends to check or crack when cut.
