View Full Version : Oscar the sea hare is going on an adventure...
Mr Cob
Sat, 5th Mar 2011, 07:46 PM
He has done his work in my 55gallon and is ready to start his community service. In just one week he worked day and night to consume all traces of hair algae and now he's hungry...
I was a little worried that because of his size he would move frags all over the place. Surprisingly though, I could barely tell he was in the tank. Not one frag was touched. Was very interesting to watch him move about....very gentle.
He consumed a lot though and as a result his waste was everywhere. lol!
Meet Oscar:

Details: Post here to adopt Oscar, when he's done with one tank he'll be off to the next in line.
Disclaimer: By adopting Oscar you agree that you will care for him and once all algae is gone you will act promptly in making sure he gets to the next tank. If Oscar passes in your care you will pay $20 to Mr. Cob's Corals for the purchase of a new Sea Hare to replace Oscar (let's hope he has a long healthy life though). You agree to acclimate Oscar properly using a drip technique, cover all powerhead intakes and you agree to read about Sea Hares: CLICK ME (http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/resources.asp?show=20)

thanks for the update Ace. Any clue as to what caused the death?
We can order a new one on our next order and you can pay whenever. One of our suppliers has them readily available.
I think I will wait though until either one of our tanks gets algae growth or another member is ready for one.

ok, i need to borrow rabbit again. my 250 is past the diatoms and in the middle of the hair algae stage - so now is the perfect time to get it mowed down.

Haha! I just added him to the 55gallon today, he cleaned up my sump and I found him sucking on Chaetomorpha, was very surprised as I did not think they would eat it. This could be a potentially good way to keep him alive longterm.
Would you like to pick him up at wednesday's local pickup? This week is from 7-8pm with Jack and next week is mine from 8-9pm.

This program has been closed...no more dead Sea Hares.
RIP Rabbit, say hello to Oscar for us : )
If you have hair algae, don't buy a Sea Hare....get to the root of the problem. Save the Sea Hares...
