So I am getting my Cube together at the moment I have most of the major things lights, sump, skimmer, reefkeeper. I am looking at options for flow right now, in the past If any of you know my old setup I had a mp40 running on my 75 gal that is def over kill for a 2 foot wide tank. What do you guys think I should go with assuming all products on the market that are practical thanks for your feedback.

i would lean towards a closed loop to keep as much space open as possible in the tank.

Also be mindful I do mostly sps dominant tanks.

i have a sicce 5.0 on a closed loop with one intake and one output split with a locline "y" capped by two eductors. the tank is about 150 gallons and there is plenty of flow, even for sps in some places.

I had 6 K4s in my 75, you think a 40 is overkill? I would stick with the 40! :D

I find smaller and more works better for me than one large output.
I have 4 MP40s on the 215g tank and am only running them at about 50% each (the gorgos like it best that way) but the 4 make a nice set up for a gyre flow.
For me it's more about distribution than strength.
In fact on my little 60 gallon seahorse cube I don't have any powerheads and I am so very pleased with the flow in there. Spray bar on top right and spray bar on bottom left and nothing settles on the ground at all. It's perfect in my opinion. I wish I had such perfect flow in the big tank with the 4 MP40s.
My new mantra: more is more when it comes to distribution but less is more when it's about flow from each individual source.
I can't imagine one MP40 being too much for a 75g though. You can always dial it down to where you want it.

Yeah your correct 1 mp40 was perfect for my 75 I am just unsure about a 60 gal cube

Gary, i was keeping sps in that tank, and what I had in there was an MP10 es and one of those Tunze Trubelle Nano Streams 6045. Flow was great, but with that crappy sand you and I talked about, I ended up with a 1/2 sand - 1/2 bare bottom tank. Corals loved it, especially the SPS....

I have one mp40es on 36 inch long tank. flow is a lil over half power and its perfect mp10 would be a waste IMO.

my cube is mainly SPS and I use two Koalia EVO 1050's and they work nice. Plenty of flow.
