anybody know what kind of ammonia test kit can measure really high levels (3-4ppm)?
My Salifert one only has the generic >2ppm thing...

I am starting the seahorse cube with ammonium chloride and Fritz bacteria and need the level to be between 3-4ppm to start out with...

You got me, but would you post your info. I was debating starting w/ dry rock and sand too.

Here's the first bit of info I can give you!
do not rely on the seachem ammonia alert thingies. lol

I figured it would be a fun visual to follow the progress but I know I have over 2ppm of ammonia in the tank (Salifert confirmed plus the dosage of ammonium chloride I put in was theoretically enough to get it in that 3-4ppm range) and my ammonia alert stick on is still sitting on green/0.2ppm alert. Sorry little fishies if somebody relies on that! :o

Here's the ammonum chloride instructions:

Very important: wait until both ammonium AND nitrite are near zero before adding more ammonium.

Fill half of the test kit with your tank water and add RODI water to fill up your test kit multiply x 2 to get your measurement. I had to do this when measuring Calcium years ago when one of the slat companies decided to crazy on the calcium levels with no magnesium and tanks where ending up with levels of 800 and crashing.
