I woke up to this light dusting of the white stuff. Pretty cool. I dont travel much in the winter so the last time I saw real snow was 1985.

Ace, what happened to the pond fish?

Fri, 4th Feb 2011, 08:57 AM
the ice is about 1" thick, but the pond is deep enough that i think they will be ok. they have all lived thru the winter in the pond for several years, i just dont remember the pond ever freezing over completely.

yep, people here in Texas do not know how to drive in the snow or ice. Which is why everything closed down with so little snow/ice. I had to learn the hard way. Should have seen me the 1st few times up in KC,MO with a front wheel drive truck. Im sure those people thought I was nuts, ran or rather slid through many red lights simply because when I braked I kept going. Also did a few spins on the highway- not by choice, Managed not to hit anything though.

Our pugs do not know what to think about that wet white stuff everywhere. Looked like cats flicking their paws everywhere (like when you put a peice of tape on a cats paw)

Not sure that that is really fair to say though. In Germany we drove in snow and ice but you could also rely on the salt sprayers to be on the road starting at 3 am and every fall we'd put on our 'winter' tires, every spring put the summer tires back on, etc.

It's true.... Definitely a combination of inexperienced drivers learning the hard way and lack of adequate equipment to keep up with it (algae scraper was classic though!!) plus then you have JRoescher driving along taking photos of the ice as he goes down the road!!!
Good day to express gratitude for our emergency workers like firewater and chunkymonkey for trying to keep us safe!
