As requested, a FTS. It's a bit overexposed, I'm still learning.

Would love to see this on the tank tour.... ;)
Gonna be a big road trip all the way to Santa Anna, TX. :D But that tank might make it worth the drive, followed by a stop by Brownwood for some BBQ and cobbler at Underwood's!

I've had the elegance about a month or so. He was given to me by someone that bought it not knowing what it was (for a THREE WEEK OLD TANK!!!!). Unfortunately, it's dying. Like so many others, I am having no luck with this one. These need to be left in the ocean, or in a species specific tank. So sad.

Anyone that ever gets out this way is more than welcome to stop by (cell 325-214-0135, borzoi@web-access.net). Right now there are three tanks to see, but I am working on my 75g aggressive and 75g cube frag tank today. Sumps are built, working on moving the aggressive into place in the newly remodeled guest room. Aggressive residents will be: dwarf golden moray, picasso trigger and dwarf lionfish. I will start a build thread once I get a bit further along.

Have an established tank, 4+ months(this mostly applies to sps). Have good lighting( T5, halides, etc). Maintain excellent water quality for sps( lps and softies like it(a little) dirty). This would mean about a 10-20% water change every week. Flow is very important. You can not have an mp40 blowing directly into a frogspawn/torch/zoanthids because they would close up, and eventually die. Just a gently turbulent flow is nice. Don't over feed, either. Someone else fill in the gaps, because I'm tired and probably missed a few things. Good luck Beamer :)

beamer, my tank is about 10 months old, here's what I do. Routine water changes weekly, 15-20%, I run pretty good lighting (2 x 110vho + 2 x 175 mh) on a 22" deep tank. Sump with refugium, skimmer, and carbon is run at all times to keep chemical spats between my corals under control. I have very few sps, but tons of softies, leathers and lps, my tank runs pretty "dirty" due to feeding, hence the weekly 20% water changes. I like to feed, my corals like it, so I am willing to trade off for water changes and more maintenance. I feed enriched brine, reef fuel, phytoplankton, cyclopeeze and coral frenzy pretty much every other day. I allow no fish or other creatures in my tank that would aggravate my corals, this includes any kind of fish that perches on stuff. My tank water comes from an ro/di systems that is tested for tds every time I turn it on, I do not "salt hop", but stay with one brand all the time. I dose daily for alk, about every three days for ca, once a week for mg, because I have so few sps, my ca needs are not great. My refugium is on a reverse lighting schedule and is loaded with chaeto.
If you are having trouble keeping corals alive........what kind are they? Many corals have specific needs that should be met in order for them to thrive, including water quality, lighting, feeding schedule and type of food, and parasite control/eradication. Softies are usually the easiest to start with, shrooms are almost bulletproof. Why don't you tell us more about your tank so we can help ya out :)
