Have you guys ever known of a puffer hosting a Anthelia waving hands? My puffer practically lays in this stuff like it's his own little comfort zone... I will have to try to take better photos, but here is a quick shot from a while back...

And on top of that my clown has moved out of the anemone and has started to host my torch? Is this okay for the clown? I don't know... I'm starting to think it must be something in the water... LoL

Actually he had velvet... Thank god he was the only one... Fresh water baths took it away... I was thinking that too, but he's still doing it... So maybe he just fell in love with the feeling... :D

It's done dude, the fresh water baths cleared it right up. And it was velvet, not ick... But 15 fresh water baths for 4 days, 3 times a day did the trick.... :D

Dustin, I think from the pic it looks as though the fish has ich? As evident from all the white spots...? Such as the fins. A happy fish can live with ich which is why JT suggested keeping him fed....fat and happy can keep the ich at bay.

Love the pic though, looks as though he is smiling.

....when was the pic taken?

How do you differentiate ich from velvet?

I've never encountered SW velvet.. but people seem to say 'when ich treatments don't work it's velvet.' I don't like that kind of logic... is there something more definite?

I see in the first post you stated the pic is from awhile back. I missed that. So I'm assuming the fish no longer has the white spots....?

I wanna see a pic of the clown hosting the torch. Is that the torch you got from me? If so...that's awesome!

Wow, I'm amazed the little guy survived all those freshwater dips. That's pretty traumatic! Glad to hear he seems to be doing better now. And he does look happy in that anthelia, oddly enough. Never known puffers to host in anything? When we first introduced ours he did not seem like he was doing all that well, just slept all day in the corner and them swam a bit at night, then he disappeared for a few days. Finally (about the time I was convinced he was a goner) he emerged at feeding time one night all fat and happy, eating like a champ. In those early days, he definitely had one corner that he preferred and I suppose it could have looked like hosting behavior, especially if there had been a coral involved. Now ours is all over the place.

Clowns host in torch frequently. Ours loved their one little tiny head of torch and that was what prompted us to decide we needed a bubble tip in that tank. They can host in anything really, GSP, frogspawn, even can host a heater if they decide that is what they like!

To be honest I'm not too sure as to how to tell the difference... When I brought this little guy home is when I noticed it, and at first I thought that it was ick... So I treated my tank for ick for a week, and it wasn't getting any better. I started reading online about puffers and came across a thread where someone was have the same identical problem and their puffer had the same type of dusty looking spots. I guess someone was some sort of expert on these type of skin problems and said that it was Marine Velvet, and said to be sure to give them freshwater dips to cure it. And so far so good...

The puffer is clean of spots, so the freshwater dips helped the little guy out... And the yes it is the torch that I purchased from you. He is really digging it a lot and I will be sure to try to get a good snapshot of him inside of it.. I just wonder what the torch is thinking... Seems like he doesn't mind at the moment...

To be honest Kristy I thought that freshwater would have killed him, but a lot of people told me to give freshwater dips. Even a couple of LFS even say it's what they do to their fish when they see skin problems. I'm just happy it didn't go to the other fish that were in the tank as well... And my puffer would do the same thing... Just lay in my cave or in the Anthelias, but now he is always swimming all over the place (probably looking for food). I didn't realize the a clown would host a torch. I thought that their stings were more harmful than an anemone's stings. I remember seeing your clown in your BTA. You and your husband have such wonderful tanks. I hope one day mine will become like what I have seen on here.

Thanks for all the input guys. I really appreciate it very much...
