say you splurged a little, got that one thing you've been eying for a while, or you already have your crown coral (or fish, clam, invert ect.) and you want to show it off! what a great way, (i think)

would work like POTM, could be clams one time, the coral, then fish ect.

once again, throwing out ideas.

let me know what you guys think. [:

Sounds just like the POTM to me.

Just for clarity...

What is the difference between your suggestion and our current POTM contest?

Thanks.

Christopher :)

I think he is referring to a contest for most exotic or unique NEW critter in your tank.

One of the catagories we're considering for the new and improved TOTM will be a species tank.

Or you can always make suggestions for the TOTM topic.

Yeah exactly,
But now that I think of it.
This could just be made into one POTM topic.. Lol

Or what I was trying to say is,
This would be more about what's in the picture, vice having the best picture

In the meantime, create a thread in the Photography forum. It wouldn't be a contest, but you could feature an animal with a series of photos.

I think it's a great idea but somehow I get the feeling our photo contest is already influenced by many more things than what's the best picture.
What people vote on in the POTM is really personal preference. If somebody has a really cool thing to show off it might get a lot of votes even if it may not be the best photo technically.
Remember when clownfish won the schooling fish category? It doesn't even have to match the theme of that month!
So to me POTM is already about which photo each voting member likes best rather than adhering to the topic or picking the best photograph from a technical standpoint.
It's what makes it so suprising and exciting. You never know :)

If SOTM doesn't make it as a contest you could always start a thread like John suggested encouraging people to post their favorite critters
