So, kenyas and colts just drop twigs when they get the urge. Now apparently my toadstool is dropping little mini-me toadstools much in the same fashion.

It occurs to me that zoas do the same. I've noticed little start-ups here and there in my tank and I think I've learned the cause. As a zoa colony begins to seriously compete for real-estate they work little clumps free and eventually break loose to find a new area.

NICE! Your corals are so awesome they frag on their own! LOL

Allan my Kenya trees drop babies like no other. Ive given a lot away. Im glad you mentioned your toadstool, because mine is huge and normally circle shaped but lately its changed its shape and looks a little odd. May be getting ready to drop a new toadstool.

Yeah mine was big and round. Then holes appeared and these stretched out to either side and a little one would drop off. I didn't think anything of it until one of the lil ones stuck to some gravel.

I've started tying them to plugs. Both the frags and moma still have outstanding polyp extension.

Trade ops or sell for a fiver.

You know I got this guy from AD almost two years ago as a live rock with Xenia on it... And a white slag looking thing. A few weeks later it started extending it's polyps.

The xenia died out but the toadstool stuck around.

yea, I got mine from Chris. Its huge and the polyps extend, except for the area that has changed there is less extension. Guess I will have some toadstool frags in my future.

I don't know if I'd call it a freebie, he charged me $35 for the rock and xenia, minus the military discount.

I really like it when it's opened up and fuzzy. Now it's still fuzzy, but it looks all dilapidated due to the pieces falling off. And I'm sure I forgot some pieces that are probably taking root somewhere planning a civil war in the tank. Bad enough that I've got bam bams showing up everywhere. It's my new nuisance coral, move over Texas trash ;)
