So I've been bored and got that new build itch. So I convinced the Love of my life, that after 3 failed attempts on box fish(in my reef) she needed her own tank.
So here it is 75g , leaning towards a non aggressive tank. maybe a bunch of fire fish, gobys, dwarf angels, box fish. stocking is her job, I get to pick equipment. lighting will prob be LED, marine land non reef fixture. I all ready have the fuge and skimmer.

Sheesh Chris. How many tanks have you had in the last 24 months? 12?
You're a start over addict! lol
Congrats :)

I just saw the tiniest little yellow with dark dots boxfish at the LFS. Had no idea they came that small! Amazing

since starting in feb of 2009 i have had 8 different reef tanks, gotta say im really addicted. This will be my first FOWLR, but i doubt it stays that way long, my G/F loves the way a clown fish and an anemone have a symbiotic relationship, so eventually i will need a light strong enough for an anemone. For now she can cut her teeth on this system, then illl slowly talk her into a reef lol.

ok tank is full of water! still don't have lighting figured out yet. here are some pics. so to protect the 20yr old floors we used pink insulation foam, and a black rug with rubber bottom.

there you go dude, looking good. When is Emily going to make her debut on here? She needs a proper MAASTy welcoming.

thats on my list, but she wants small slow fish, but if we just do dwarf angels and tang, the eel might work

I think she's scared lol. I keep dropping hints. She told me that i am on MAAST enough for both of us.

lol

I just read a really interesting article on morays and it said that the small ones like the golden morray are actually more likely to bite other fish than some of the bigger ones (as in take a chunk out of them, not necessarily eat them)

I dont agree completely with this, they just cant be small enough to fit in their mouth! My golden dwarf moray has been a great little citizen, the first week he was in the tank, he took down a helfriech firefish, but since then, he hasnt taken any more victims...I keep him well fed with about 2 silversides a week, he doesnt mess with my sunburst anthia, clowns, mandarin, midas blenny or mystery wrasse as well as my cleaner shrimp and crab.

With that, he is absolutely stunningly beautiful, has all the traits of a true moray, and I wouldnt trade him for anything. if you are setting up a FOWLR or reef tank for that matter, he makes a great addition, you are just limited to fish that cant fit in his mouth.

thanks mike, she had mentioned eels when I first talked her into the tank, but that was when she wanted a lion and triggers other big fish. she likes snowflake eels, saw some cool ribbon eels at AD. as soon as she figures out what she wants to stock with i can see if a eel will work.

YIKES! That is some expensive eel food! I bet you were crushed.

Dang Chirs, and I thought I changed aquariums often. I think you have me beat.

Cant wait to see the progression

ok did some tweaking again last night and got the fuge up and running with caulerpa. the sump has an area on the right for rubble and a drip tray, flows under to skimmer area and then under the fuge to return pump(external coralife 580p) on far left. the fuge is a stand alone section, a small pump feeds it and then it overflows back into skimmer area. i dont like the skimmer area its not static so i might have a skimmer stand made and move skimmer to fuge area. i had some live rock cycling from my many tank swaps and threw it in to start some cycleing.

Looking good man, might want to go with a smaller net. I've lost a pair of purple firefish in a 1/4 net.

good to know. she wants about 6-8 total fire fish and helfrici fires are not cheap.

Ok, so I finally decided to make my own account on here and to make the cheesiest screen name I possibly could:)
Here are some pictures I took of the tank this evening. Not the best quality, but I guess they get the point across. I just added a Powder Brown and a Pink Skunk Clown this evening. Here are a few shots taken during dinner time.

Hello Ms_Stang!

Is this a really small tang or do you own the most ginormous turbo snail in Texas? Beautiful tang :)

I'm very enjoyable lol! she can't be talked into anything, she researched what fish she wanted for months and I have no say so on what goes in there, I just maintain the equipment. she has become very good at killing aiptasia with boiling water.
