are there any other corals around it that may be stinging it. also I had a neon blue hermit who consumed LPS once in a while and also a peppermint shrimp that also did the same.

I just lost my scoly to the same thing a week and a half ago. I tried everything to save it. Water quality was fine, and all other corals where doing great. Cool coral, but expensive to lose. I dont know if I'll do another b/c of it.

do you feed it?

Might consider letting someone nourish it back to health for you. That way when you get it back it's healthy and you might find out the source of the problem by then.

I have two scolly's and almost lost one of them because of my halides. They do terrible in my main tank, but do great in my small tank. Difference is that the small tank has T5's and the main tank uses halides. They both share the same sump so water is identical. Might just be the Kelvin rating on my halides, but not sure and they're happy so I just left them where they're at.

Forgot to mention when the scolly's were in the main tank under halides, they were placed at the bottom in different places trying to find the right spot with no luck.

on another note....our business tank has been very successful with scollies....and it's 250w MH x2 20k. Tank is only 17" deep too. We nursed a war paint back to good health...it was receding badly when we got it and 2 months later after feeding it LPS Fauna marin pellets every couple of days it looked great and was growing.

I'm guessing it's starving. These dudes like to be fed.

Alex...it could also be that we are using cheap MH bulbs. Perhaps the intensity or PAR reading is much less....not sure though, have never tested. They are new though.

Rob, use the PAR meter going around. Sponsors are also welcome to use it ...

Looks like Rob has it down, but tonyydee might need to borrow it.

Ive had various LPS show tissue recession including my acans and my candycane but after a good dip or two they bounce back better than ever. Try using a coral dip, its always worked for me... I use Coral Revive.

MediCoral by Brightwell Aquatics is another good dip. Just be careful to not dip too long. A declining coral can react badly to an intense dip.

How long do you recommend?

Without calling every sponsor in the list, anyone carry coral dips locally? And what about Lugols (sp)?

How long do you recommend?

With scollies I do 5-10 minutes at half the recommended dose. Then a few days later the same.

Thanks! Didn't mean to hijack Tony's thread. Tony, did our earlier answers help out?

Congrats dude. My scoly hasn't had any bad days, but your experience had me watching mine like a hawk.
